Swell House

We came to York during the off-season when pretty much everything was closed, and this ended up being one of the few spots open, and I’m so glad it was. Swell House is such a cool little find. It’s not just a coffee shop... it has small attached shops that are honestly just as fun to walk through as grabbing the coffee itself. The coffee was great (I got an americano flat), but what really stood out was the attention to detail. Even something as simple as the stamp on the coffee cup felt intentional. The whole place has a very curated, cozy, coastal vibe without feeling overdone. We grabbed our coffee to go and did a quick loop through the shops, and everything felt thoughtfully put together....art, gifts, and little things you actually want to look at. Definitely one of those spots that makes you feel like you found something a little more local and less touristy.

Such an awesome stop for a breakfast bite. This cafe is so unique with the custom apparel that has all been thrifted. The breakfast empanadas were amazing and the cafe itself was so gorgeous and cozy.

One of the newest, freshest & coolest businesses to open in a long time on the Southern Maine Seacoast. On Rt 1 so very accessible with parking in front and on the side, this coffee house and community space mixes food, drink and more with a coastal shop with Oceanside amenities & trendy/ vintage outerwear. Have a cappuccino and a quick bite, in an incredibly local hip Surf-themed environment. They capture and highlight the best of the York, Ogunquit Wells beach vibe in this space. They have all kinds of seating from a coffee bar, to soft seating, open air large tables and high tops. Baked goods were delicious and my ice coffee was smooth tasting. Try ‘em out. You won’t be disappointed.

Swell House – A Year-Round Gem in York, Maine! Absolutely loving the newly opened Swell House in York! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with an upbeat, welcoming vibe that instantly sets the tone. The staff is incredibly friendly — genuinely kind, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they’re doing. I tried the iced strawberry matcha and it was perfection — refreshing, balanced, and just sweet enough without being overpowering. Easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The whole place gives off a fun, coastal-cool energy that’s both stylish and comfortable. It’s the kind of spot you want to hang out at for a while, whether you're grabbing a drink solo or catching up with friends. One of the best parts? They’re open year-round, not just catering to the tourist season — it's nice to have a go-to local spot we can count on even after the summer crowds are gone. Already can’t wait to go back. Swell House is the real deal!

Absolutely love this beautiful little coffee shop! Iced maple latte was so delicious! Great vintage vibe. Lovely coffee bar. Quiet work space. Comfy couches. Cribbage boards. And FANTASTIC service. Really enjoyed everything about my quick visit this am. I will definitely be back. Wishing the owners the best of luck and crossing my fingers they can make it work year round! (Huge bonus: my favorite shampoo for sale closer to home 💞)!
