Crema's Take

This Austin newcomer is swinging hard with boldly inventive drinks that blend coffee expertise with Asian flavor traditions—think mala lattes, ginger-chili cappuccinos, and fish sauce caramel that shouldn't work but absolutely do. The whole experience is thoughtfully curated, from the Chinese ceramics and art-filled space to house-made pastries that feature unexpected ingredients like miso and five spice, making it a destination for coffee lovers who crave creativity alongside their espresso.

Hands down my favorite coffee in Austin. The specialty drinks and baked goods thoughtfully use ingredients like miso, Chinese five spice, ginger, and fish sauce caramel (get it, you won't regret it!) to tremendous effect. I am from the deep south and consider myself a biscuit connoisseur, and the biscuits here are some of the city's best. The vibes are great - it's a cozy shop, killer art everywhere, and lots of clear support for the immigrant community in the form of things like know-your-rights cards at the counter and signs on the door saying ICE is not welcome. They host cute events, staff are so chill and friendly. What else could a girl ask for?

This shop is such a gem! Everything from the decor to the art and coffee is well-crafted and curated here. I love the spicy coffee drinks with ginger and chili oil. I loved the signature ginger cappuccino and will definitely be back again for more

One of my new favorite coffee shops...all due to the Mala Latte. For my mala fans, it's not by any means close to the numbing effect we love and adore - and for others who haven't experienced the Mala sensation, it's a nice herbal tingle in the back of your throat as you sip your beverage (hot or iced). I'm a hardcore black coffee drinker and not one for flavored coffees or additives in general, yet the Mala Latte is a nice change of pace.

One of the most unique coffee spots I have ever been to! I loved their seasonal specialities and their different take on flavors!!!! We tried their seasonal item ginger & toasted rice cappucino and black sesame hot chocolate! You’d think such an uncommon flavor wouldn’t pair well with coffee or matcha BUT THEY DO IT SO WELLLLLLLLL. By far my favorite cafe, I’ve visited so far! The cafe is so cute and loved the ambience and welcoming vibes they’ve curated for the community! Parking is somewhat difficult to find as the lot is very tiny had to circle around the neighborhood to find one! BUT don’t let that stop you from trying this place!

I love coffee shops that come out swinging. Lau Lau is brand new in Austin and spared no time in becoming excellent - the dim sum pastries, the Chinese ceramic plates, the inventive flavors, and the beautiful interior. Plus now they've started hosting markets too, so it feels much more community oriented! It really feels like a labor of love, and a testament to the owner's heritage (something obvious by the fact that her parents even worked there when it first opened). Go to Lau Lau!
