Crema's Take

This beloved neighborhood gathering spot transforms breakfast into an event with a stunning back patio complete with a koi pond and whirlygigs, where you can linger over generous stacks of pancakes and expertly crafted hot chocolate while your pup relaxes beside you. Day by Day has built its reputation on generous portions, surprising depth of execution (their French toast needs no embellishment), and an atmosphere so welcoming that regulars have been returning for years to meet friends and family in this charming Twin Cities institution. Whether you're catching an early-bird special, working through a leisurely breakfast indoors, or settling into the serene outdoor seating, this is the kind of place that becomes your favorite without you planning for it to be.

Hit this place for the very early bird special! Eat outside by the koi pond with whirlygigs. Get a large stack of pancakes. The hot chocolate has the swirl of whipped cream that I desire. Been coming here for years. Waitstaff isn't overly eager or bothersomely chatty. One corner of the huge restaurant is like dining in my dad's library. I love everything about it.

This could be your new favorite neighborhood meeting place. We have been meeting friends and family at the delightful Day By Day Cafe For years. It’s our favorite breakfast joint in the Twin Cities (and we’ve sampled A LOT). Nestled on charming West 7th Street in St. Paul, the atmosphere is inviting, warm, and cozy, surrounded by brick, wood, books, and bohemian but decidedly personal decor. The food values are excellent, the food is always fresh and tasty, and the service is exceptionally low-key and personable. The food ranges from heart-stopping to healthy, so everyone will find something to enjoy. (I always intend to take a pic of the food, but we get distracted by its arrival every time.). The coffee is good, fairly priced, and bottomless, and we have put that to the test! We’ve never felt rushed by the servers, which seems to invite great conversation in the private booths. It’s wonderfully warm in the winter but in the summer they have a hidden oasis of a back patio with water features and plants galore - which is worth a visit by itself. The only downside is that I think they’d struggle to accommodate a large group, but it’s fantastic for parties of 2 - 4. Highly recommended. Keep up the great work, Day By Day!

Stopped on our way through to Duluth. We were able to bring our dog on the patio while we had breakfast. The menu had such a large variety of options (it smelled too good to wait to eat) The patio had little sculptures and artwork all over in addition to the charming little water feature. Service was incredible & so attentive. Also look at the cutest menu cover Adding to the list to come back!

BEST FIND EVER!!! The back patio was insanely gorgeous. Even the inside seatings were so cute and fun too. We’ll have to come back and check out the indoor dining experience as well. Food was top, and very affordable. All the servers were so friendly and kind. A lot of families come here which makes the vibe so cozy. Perfect Sunday brunch spot, or honestly, any day spot!!!

The food is tasty and the omelette was surprisingly delicious. French Toast tasted so good it did not even need butter or syrup. The outside area is serene and charming, and the overall decor is quaint and memorable. It is one of the best cafés I have been to and I would visit again.
