Skeleton Point

Sign at the Kaibab Trailhead says this is a very difficult hike and will take 4-6 hours. We are 2 pretty active people and it took us about 5 hours including all our breaks and our lunch at Skeleton point. Trekking poles were also a life saver on the way back up.

Moderate difficulty day hike starting at the South Kiabab trail head. The trail is very well maintained but there are lots of loose gravel and dirt so you have to be careful on the decent. You are able to see the Colorado River from here.

Bathrooms and non-potable water available here. A good spot to stop as you're about 2/3 down to the river. It's also the confluence of the South Kaibab and Tonto Trails. There is a small shelter to here to get some shade. Otherwise, it's a very exposed spot to the sun and wind.
