Truly a local gem. This is our third time coming back and it won’t be our last — we live just nearby in Playa del Rey, and having this place so close feels like a privilege. The vibe is fantastic and the view makes the whole experience. On top of that, the service is excellent, which always keeps us coming back. On the food side, the breakfast burrito and chicken french toast are absolute must-orders — easily the highlights of the menu. Do yourself a favor though and skip the avocado toast — it was pretty underwhelming for what it is, and there are better options to spend your appetite on. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. A solid go-to for a great meal with an even better atmosphere.

What a lovely cafe!! Menu has plenty for breakfast, and it's very reasonably priced. The coffee was delicious! Both shaded and sunny outdoor seating available. Love the views! Definitely worth a walk on the bike path or the beach afterward. I highly recommend!

We wanted breakfast with an ocean view. Oceans Cafe absolutely has a view. The menu was decent. Service was great. Even came with a blanket to stay warm. My breakfast burrito was OK. The croissant was a disappointment. A nice but great experience.

I had an absolutely phenomenal breakfast experience at Oceans Cafe and Grill in Playa Del Mar, California, and it’s one I’ll cherish, especially since it fell on my birthday weekend! From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch, but it was taken to another level when Chef Derrick Juan personally came to our table to greet us. His warm hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable meal. Chef Derrick recommended some incredible dishes, and I’m so glad I took his advice. The French Toast with Chicken and Spicy Syrup was hands down the best I’ve ever had—flavors so perfectly balanced that it left me speechless. The toast with homemade custom jam was another highlight, bursting with unique, delicious taste that went beyond words. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, Chef Derrick surprised me with beignets drizzled in a warm rum butter sauce for my birthday. They literally melted in my mouth, offering a savory, sweet, and satisfying finish that made the meal truly special. The ambiance, with its ocean view (we even spotted a stationary tanker while dining!), paired perfectly with the outstanding food and service. This place is a gem, and we’re definitely coming back. A huge thank you to Chef Derrick Juan and the Oceans Cafe and Grill team for making my birthday breakfast amazing! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Playa Del Mar.
