Crema's Take

This Santa Cruz roastery is a bean lover's treasure trove, offering an impressive rotating selection of single-origin coffees (think Ethiopia Harrar, Tanzania Peaberry, and Guatemala dark roast) that locals swear are among the best they've had anywhere in the country. While there's no café seating to linger in, the knowledgeable staff make the experience feel personal and welcoming, and the reasonably priced, freshly roasted beans—especially standouts like the Redwood Rush and chocolate-forward Moka Java—are worth stocking up on whenever you're in town.

Still the best beans I've ever had. They should be more popular everywhere! Try the Redwood Rush, it's amazing.

I am drinking a very yummy espresso from their beans right now! They don't have a coffee bar but it's a great place to buy quality, locally roasted beans at a good price. Friendly, knowledgeable, no long line. I wish I'd come in here earlier!

Enjoy chocolate undertones in your coffee bean? Check out the light roast Nicaraguan or the medium roast Moka Java shown in photo here. Staff here are always attentive and helpful. Get the benefits of coffee experts who can speak to the nuances in their beans. They have a great deal of expertise above what you would probably find in a coffee place staffed by students. Oh, and Java Bob's accepts Apple Pay! Pro tips: coffee is best when ground and served between three and 10 days after resting has completed. By small quantities regularly to retain the highest amount of flavor. That's one of the secrets the coffee shops make use of.

Always stock up on coffee there when I'm in Santa Cruz. They have some of the best beans I've had in the U.S. My personal favorite is the Guatemala dark roast. Their prices are also reasonable For the quality of coffee they sell. You can also mail order.
