Crema's Take

Tucked in Carmel, The Power Plant Coffee roasts with Acme beans to create a beautifully balanced cup that skews mellow rather than sharp—perfect if you like adding an extra shot to dial in your taste. The space blooms with beautiful plants and welcoming staff, making it an ideal hideaway for focused work or unhurried conversation, while their pastries (especially the bear claws) and the adjacent Food Lab's exceptional burgers turn a coffee run into a full, craveable experience.

Food lab which is located in adjacent to Power Plant Coffee is hell of a find! The burger with chili was exceptional. The service was wonderful as well. They special made me special fries ( the way I need to have them) and all was out of this world! The beer & wine selection is excellent. I have had coffee at the Power Plant Coffee - also tasty. They are only open Wednesday through Sunday, but are worth both the trip out of the (!) or just a stop between Santa Cruz and Monterey. What a wonderful addition to the Monterey Bay Area food scene!

Coffee is not overly sour or bitter they use Acme beans. It is on a milder side taste wise so I would add an extra shot. Pastries are out of this world delicious I’ve head the best bear claw here I’ve ever had. They have a food truck serving typical American fare. They also serve wine and ready to grab sandwiches, salads and snacks. Inside it’s airy with comfortable seating and plants galore. This my favorite coffee shop in Monterey. You can also walk to the beach and puzzles/games to keep the kids busy.

We reviewers often write about local hidden gems, like secret love letters to our communities. These places offer an escape from the monotony of every day life. They provide wonder and solace in an often chaotic and concrete world. This oasis within the oasis of Moss Landing, is like a Russian nesting egg of beauty and flavor. With smoke stacks towering above it like two protective giant sentinels, a surrounded by sailboats, like geese flocked to a harbor, this amazing coffee shop offers a magical wardrobe minus the lion and witch. The inner courtyard where one enjoys their coffee and breakfast sandwiches is a lush wonderland of foliage and nautical spirit. White walls somehow breathe and there’s an impossible solitude and tranquility softly ebbing with the tides. There’s more than just coffee and breakfast sandwiches. There’s beer and wine, There’s the Food Lab. There’s clean restrooms, merchandise, and all sorts of swag. The service is wonderful and fast. The food is delicious. And there is plenty of parking behind the shop, if required.

I was staying in Marina and needed to find a coffee shop to work out of and my options were going to Moss Landing or Monterey. I’m so glad I came here. The staff are friendly, the food and coffee are amazing, and the inside is so unique and welcoming. I had to come back again two days later before leaving the area. Would definitely come back again. The perfect spot to relax, get some work done, or grab a quick bite.

I stopped after paddling in Elkhorn Slough at The Power Plant Coffee. It's a great space with nice seating and beautiful plants. The staff was very polite and quick. There was a really wide range of food and drinks (both coffee and other) products available. I got a breakfast sandwich which was delicious and very substantial. The coffee was great so I got a second one to go. I will definitely stop by after my next paddle.
