Crema's Take

Tucked inside a historic Portland hotel, this on-site roastery pulls serious espresso and pours thoughtful pour-overs in a lived-in space that feels more like a local's retreat than a tourist pit stop. The vibe is unhurried and deeply hospitable—perfect for settling in with your laptop or lingering over a cup while soaking in genuine Portland charm. Staff come across as genuinely invested in both their coffee and making you feel at home, whether you're a guest upstairs or just stopping by for an excellent, reasonably-priced brew.

Guys, have stayed relatively fancy hotels from coast to coast. Point blank, this place should be charging $400/nightly. I’ve plaid double and received halve the service and amenities. Lastly, the location is without out a doubt the best of Portland. Saw precovid and after, the way the city has cleaned up is unremarkable. But through and through the hotel kept its standard. Even down to the smallest increment; a malfunctioning piece of weight equipment and Brent the manager was down to fix within minutes. Literally, minutes…. I secondly want to mention his coworker bc she’s goes above and beyond. You’d literally think this lady is a paid concierge. She sets bar for all the rest nation wide. The younge brunette had ideas and input for anything Portland and beyond and somehow made It come across as a personal and not just an aspect of her job. If you want the best advice, to experience and feel Portland, but know you’re taken care of, this is it. Do not underestimate these guys and the amazing rooms.

This is a great reasonably priced stay. The rooms were spacious with many amenities. The coffee is great and roasted on site. The location is close to many attractions and close to transportation. Great for a family as well. We have two teens and still very comfortable. I would recommend.

I stayed at a Suite in Mark Spencer Hotel for three nights. Here is my review. The staff is very friendly. During my stay I asked the receptionist for extra blankets, suggestions on breakfast cafes, they all answered patiently and professional. The room was very clean when we checked in. The suite is quite spacious. The bed is too soft for me unfortunately. The air conditioner is hard to control, and it points right at the bed. So when it runs it's kind of loud with airflow right at you. If you don't turn it on. The air circulation is terrible. The hotel decorations is pretty cool with lots of classic movie pictures. Another complaint is the garage entrance card reader. The driver has to step out of the car, scan the door key to open the door, then step back in the car to drive down. The parking is $36 per night. The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the middle of downtown. There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops within the walking distance.

Suitable stay on a budget in downtown Portland. Not recommended for noise-sensitive sleepers. The hotel shows noticeable wear, and the room did not feel particularly clean, with visible stains on floors and walls and a bathroom that appeared poorly maintained. Running water continuously had an altered color and made me slightly uncomfortable using. While it’s advertised as boutique and charming, I admit that the building’s old age and minimal renovations weren’t my cup of tea. The main issue was noise. Sound transfers very easily between rooms and from the hallway. Doors closing, conversations, and movement from nearby rooms were audible throughout the night, making it difficult to get restful sleep. On a positive note, the service staff and check-in team were genuinely lovely and helpful. The lobby offers free unlimited coffee and tea, and the regional wine tasting in the evening (5–6 pours) was a nice touch.

I love the Mark Spencer. Their beds are absolutely the most comfortable beds I have ever slept. The room was large & had a nice little kitchenette. We had a television in the sitting room and also in the bedroom area. Huge walk-in shower. I'm trying to find a reason to go to Portland so we can stay here again..
