Sugar Shack Cafe

Crema's Take
“This breezy Huntington Beach spot excels at creating the perfect casual gathering place with its multi-level porches and retractable green awning—ideal for catching the ocean breeze without the heat. While reviews are mixed on the food itself, the real magic happens in the atmosphere and service, where attentive staff and a relaxed, family-friendly vibe keep regulars coming back. It's the kind of independent cafe where the experience of lingering over coffee with friends matters more than the menu being flawless.”

Wonderful breakfast with front porch, back porch and inside dining options.
Honestly food wasn't great. Went for breakfast. I got a burrito which was mid at best. My bf got a breakfast plate which came with grilled chicken. I believe it was called the Michele special. Chicken was over cooked and literally had no seasoning on it. It was very bland. Eggs were blan and over cooked. The toast was grilled in the same place as the French toast so it had cinnamon taste which wasn't great so be careful if you have food allergies coming here. Very obvious for cross contamination. And the worst part of all was that the fruit in the side of fruit was not ripe and fermented at the same time... I would say the best part of the entire meal was the hot sauce they had which wasn't even made by them. It is made by a local guy and that was the best hot sauce I've ever had and I love hot sauces. Food was over priced for what we got. The staff were friendly but that didn't make up for the taste of the food. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I'm gonna put a photo of the hot sauce so you can find it without going here.
Breakfast was good. Seating was a little limited but we didn't have to wait. Service was awesome.
First time and wow, I really recommend it, I can't wait to return. Great atmosphere, perfect location, and very friendly people. I really recommend coming with family or friends to a casual place for a breakfast that will leave you feeling full.
07/25/2025 Pleasant al fresco dining just a few blocks from the fresh ocean breeze. Quick service, attentive staff, and most importantly, when the sun started to get hot, they had a retractable green awning by the back area. Tip: instead of waiting for a table by the front or inside, ask to be seated in the back patio area where there is little to no wait.
