Bearshine cafe
400 Squaw Creek Rd, Tahoe City, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked right next to the ski slopes in Tahoe City, this casual cafe hits the sweet spot for both quick caffeine runs and lingering mornings—their cold brew is genuinely excellent, and the overnight oats arrive in generous, nourishing portions. The early 6am opening makes it a perfect pre-slope stop, and while the food quality can be inconsistent and prices reflect the mountain location premium, the cozy vibe and convenient hotel integration keep it a reliable neighborhood gathering spot for families and skiers alike.”

This cafe is integrated into the hotel’s online ordering system, but is operated by an outside vendor. As a result, the hotel has no oversight over the actual service they provide, and the employees simply do not care when they cannot fulfill orders. At lunchtime, multiple people had placed online orders for items which were out of stock. Employees made no effort to even inform waiting customers that the items were not available and their orders would not be filled. Meanwhile, the full menu continued to be available for online ordering. Only after we inquired, they informed us we would not be receiving our food OR a refund, shrugged and said “complain to the hotel.” We’ve been staying at this resort for years, and this cafe has always been mediocre at best, but the absolute apathy of the employees has reached a new low this winter.
Super cute cafe right next to the ski slopes at Everline! Not too busy on a Friday afternoon. Good: - The overnight oats were so healthy and filling, huge portion sizes - The latte was a great portion size, very tasty too - Food came out super quickly, 5 minute wait or so - Inside is very homey and cute! Bad: - Pricey for the amount of stuff you get, but not too dissimilar to SF prices Overall enjoyed going to this cafe and it was so cute and convenient for us as a group.
The worst chicken strips ever. 4 for 12 bucks!! From frozen to microwave. Was out of chicken pesto sandwich. Wouldn't give me a refund for food that was soggy and not edible. Breakfast burrito was ok but not for the price. 10 bucks for a bag of kettle chips! Needs a menu update for sure.
This was a very convenient cafe next to our rooms. They opened late and early morning so it was great place to stop by for something quick. The prices are justified for the location but still $8 for a bottle of water was kind of ridiculous. The mocha is good and they use high quality beans from Equator coffees and wonderful local women owned business. The matcha latte was my go to with almond milk. It always hit the spot I wish they had bigger sizes of cups though. We had the blueberry muffin and croissants and they tasted freshly baked every morning. The burrito was the worst thing I had there it was just terrrrrible. How could they serve such a terrible item. The croissant sandwiches were a lifesaver and tasted so good. We opted for the one with the sausage patty and my kid loved it. The ice cream was good too and I ended up really like the strawberry cheesecake one. Overall it’s a good cafe with good options. Just stick to the basics and you should be fine.
Cute cafe. My cold brew was excellent. Happy they open at 6am to get warmed up early in the morning.
