Crema's Take

Le Diplomate Bakery Cafe is a beloved neighborhood spot in Irvine where you can grab a solid sandwich on the go or linger over Italian sodas at the outdoor tables—their hummus veggie and chicken sandwiches are honest, satisfying options that won't break the bank at around $10. The casual vibe and reasonable prices make it a reliable choice for a quick weekday lunch, though longtime regulars note the quality feels less consistent than it once was, and their Vietnamese coffee leans more traditional than adventurous.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, quick-grab spot, outdoor seating. Pastries and light food on the menu.

This is a pretty solid sandwich shop with a lot of different options including vegetarian ones. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. The service is fast. What else can you expect from a sandwich shop? It’s located in a nice area and there’s plenty of seating outside.

I got the chicken broccoli mushrooms sandwich! The sandwich is pretty good, but not spectacular. Definitely something I would recommend if you’re looking for something to fill you up and on the go. Service was great, but they do not take American Express.

Simple tasty sandwich and nice outdoor seating. The 9" is about $10. Italian soda was $3.50. My only complaint is that their "Vietnamese coffee" is just a regular coffee and not that strong. Good bread.

We ordered the NY Liason and the Chicken Garlic. We used to love Le Diplomate Cafe but we aren’t sure if it’s under new management now. Either way, avoid ordering from here. Subway seems like a 5 star restaurant in comparison to this place. The chicken in the garlic chicken…
