Crema's Take

Bodega Café brings New York neighborhood warmth to Virginia Beach with a cozy, Instagram-worthy space that feels like a second home the moment you walk in. Beyond their solid traditional espresso drinks, they're known for creative seasonal specialties like their Coco Loco—an espresso with condensed milk and coconut that locals rave about—plus they host exclusive tasting events that make you feel part of something special. It's the kind of intimate spot where you can linger with wifi and pastries, or catch one of their signature reserved tastings if you're lucky enough to hear about them.

Stopped in this morning to give this place a try. It's pretty small inside, but they made it cute and inviting. The wait wasn't too bad, but my food was extremely disappointing. The bagel and muffin I ordered were both dense and kind of stale. What was worse was the bagel had almost no cream cheese on it (pictured). I also asked the cashier what she recommended for a coffee that wasn't too sweet. She suggested the XOXO. I ordered it and was surprised at how sweet it was. I don't think she should suggest this as "not very sweet". All in all I wasn't super impressed, so I probably won't be back, which is sad because I want to support small businesses.

If you are looking for a beautiful, cozy, coffee shop, look no further than Bodega Café! They have a normal drink menu, but also served quite a few specialty/seasonal drinks. I decided to get the cherry pop, cold brew, and my sister ordered the XOXO (strawberry white mocha with cold foam and dried strawberries). They were both so incredibly flavorful! We did not order anything out of the pastry case or try any of their food, but that was an almost immediate regret after seeing all the delicious things that were coming out of the kitchen. Next time we go, I definitely want to sample some of the delicious things on the menu. My sister and I hung out at the café for a few hours and there were people coming and going the entire time, it was quite busy! All in all, a cozy shop where you can enjoy food and drinks that are infused with lots of love! Definitely add this coffee shop to your list of places to try!

Walking into Bodega Café felt like stepping right back into New York — warm, familiar, and full of that unmistakable neighborhood energy. The moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, almost like I was seeing old friends from the block again. The signature drinks were on another level. Every sip was crafted with care and packed with flavor. And the guava and cheese pastry? Unreal. It tasted just like the ones you’d find in Miami — fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Even though it’s a small spot, it’s packed with good energy, good people, and that classic city vibe — the New York feel is in full effect from the moment you walk in. This little hole‑in‑the‑wall is absolutely perfect, full of love, flavor, and personality. A must‑visit. Highly recommend!

I heard of them from a local reviewer on Instagram an just had to visit after work. I got the coco loco and their coffee is FIRE. It’s an espresso with condensed milk and coconut and the flavors are literally so perfect and smooth. They also decorated the inside so cute for valentines and had fun music playing as well, I would’ve stayed to relax if they weren’t about to close. Can’t wait to come back!

Went here Monday night for a specialty reserved event. They let us make purchases even though they were “closed” so I was happy to finally be able to try their coffee! The inside was so pretty! Beautifully decorated with christmas decor! The staff was friendly and also helpful when I asked questions about their menu. I decided to try a drink from their seasonal menu/December special. An Iced Santa’s Cookie (10/10) it was sweet and flavorful; loved the cookie butter syrup! Def will return to try more of their drinks and some “Bodega bites” My overall rate of experience : 10/10
