MELROSE
3178 Kuhio Hwy, Lihue, HI
Crema's Take
“Melrose is a charming Lihue café that feels like stepping into a carefully curated time capsule, where every thoughtful detail—from custom napkins to the aesthetic—creates an unexpectedly magical escape. Their signature drinks like the Hawaiian Tropic are genuinely memorable, paired perfectly with fresh, creative pastries like their celebrated ube cream cheese offering, making it worth a deliberate stop rather than just a pass-by. The welcoming, calming atmosphere makes it equally suited for lingering over coffee with friends or stealing a quiet moment alone.”

Drinks were amazing. We loved the ube cream cheese pastry as well.
This location has so many positive reviews that mine likely is not needed. However, to not write a stellar review feels inconsiderate. This place was wonderful! The atmosphere was calming, welcoming, peaceful! The food (truffle croissant) melted in our mouths! The coffee and matcha lit up our day! Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will be back!
The Hawaiian Tropic was to die for!! Sad I went at the end of my trip because this was the best coffee we had on island, if not EVER! Pastries were super good and fresh. The shop itself was so cute and aesthetic, and I LOVED the heart straws. Definitely a must go
This is a rare and incredibly charming café in Kauai. Every little detail, from the napkins to the straws, reflects its unique concept. The drinks are diverse, each with its own taste. Don’t miss the beautiful accessories and clothing brought in from Europe! The only downside? The food tends to sell out quickly in the morning. If you’re planning to have a meal, I’d recommend going before lunchtime!
Passed this so many times while on the road and, well, let's just say I won't be forgetting about it anytime soon. Once you open the door to Melrose, you are transported in time to the cutest boutique and coffee shop with the most comforting coquette vibes. While things are a bit expensive you really can't judge the prices because I think every cent was completely worth it. If you are a sweet coffee fiend and looking for a delicious coffee, I can honestly say that the coconut cream Vietnamese coffee is the coffee I have been searching for-- best I've had on island. So incredibly smooth and sweet (and they got the good ice). The baked goods were delectable as well, I had the black truffle egg croissant. The croissant itself was flaky and buttery the and I am still baffled how they made an egg taste that good. This spot is a must for residents and visitors alike. First time and I will most definitely be returning.
