I walked into Sweetwaters Coffee expecting to be welcomed by the smell of coffee, but instead the first thing I noticed was a strong smell of cleaning supplies. I brushed that off, thinking at least I’d still get a great cup of coffee. Unfortunately, the experience kept going downhill. There were only two customers in the building, yet no one greeted me when I came in. When I placed my order, I asked for a splash of heavy cream. While the employee was ringing me up, the manager or owner, I’m not sure which, stood behind her and in an irritated tone said, “The splash of heavy is not free,” then quickly took over the transaction. Charging $0.80 for a splash of heavy cream is already a little wild, but the way it was handled felt rude and unnecessary. What really stood out most was the attitude. The entire time my drink was being made, she looked visibly annoyed. My Italian grandma, who passed away last month 😢, used to always say, “It’s so good because I make it with love.” That stuck with me here for the opposite reason. There was no warmth, no hospitality, and honestly, no love in this cappuccino. I don’t mind paying for extras, and I understand businesses have policies. But tone, service, and atmosphere matter just as much as the drink. I hope this location works on making customers feel welcome
First time trying, and I'm impressed with the espresso. I got a latte with an extra shot, and I can taste the deep, earthy espresso with no bitterness. Next time I'm going to try one of their iced drinks, as they look and sound delicious. I'll definitely be back.
This is my favorite coffee spot these days. I wish there was one closer to me but I always make a stop here when I go anywhere near the George Bush and Cetral Expwy. Love the breakfast sandwiches and the drink selections. - something for everyone. The staff is very friendly and the service is great.
I had very different experiences between locations. At this location, a staff member named Tyler told me I would need to leave within 30 minutes if I didn’t make a purchase. This felt unwelcoming and unprofessional, especially for someone who was still deciding and waiting to purchase at a specific time. I let the manager know and she said “I’ve should’ve communicated that.” That interaction alone made me not want to return to that location. The Custer location is and was a completely different experience. The staff there were much friendlier, welcoming, and professional. I was not pressured to make a purchase and was able to comfortably use the WiFi without being rushed or made to feel unwelcome. Because of this, I would recommend the Custer location and would not recommend the other location based on customer service alone.
My friends and I meet at Sweetwater every week for Bible study, and it’s become one of our favorite times of the week. The pastries are always fresh and delicious, the drinks are consistently spot-on, and Chase delivers exceptional customer service with a genuine smile. The café itself is spotless, inviting, and perfect whether you’re grabbing something quick or settling in for a longer visit. Sweetwater never disappoints — highly recommend!
