Funk 'n Waffles
307-13 S Clinton St, Syracuse, NY
Crema's Take
“Funk 'n Waffles is a beloved Syracuse brunch spot that doubles as a casual live music venue, where the counter-service setup and seat-yourself charm create an unpretentious, communal vibe that keeps regulars coming back for consistent, craveable waffles and breakfast plates. While the coffee takes a supporting role to the standout food and atmosphere, it's the kind of place where you can linger over a cup while soaking in the friendly energy and perhaps catching a live Dead cover band on a Sunday morning.”

Came here for chicken and waffles, left with regrets. The fried chicken was way too salty and the waffle had a chewy consistency you only get from a bulk mix. Also ordered a fried egg over medium and I’ve had hard boiled eggs that weren’t cooked as hard. We were literally the only customers and I couldn’t even get an egg cooked properly. Looks like a nice venue for music but I can’t recommend it for the food. To add insult to injury you’re asked to tip out when you have to order at the counter, pick up your own food, and bus your own table. The bathroom graffiti is spot on in this establishment.
Delicious and consistent. Fairly priced. I tend to order the same 2 things over and over again and they come out almost exactly the same everytime. The owner is often around and seems friendly enough.
It was popping when we went Sunday morning!! I can see why, the food is incredible. It's a seat yourself deal, order at the counter and take out or sit. I got the classic brekkie with eggs, bacon and half a Whole Lotta Love. No regrets!!! Best waffles I've ever had. The yogurt with the fresh fruit was top tier. My boyfriend got the Tower and half the Lion Zion I think, and the Tower is a great sammich!! With a big mimosas we dug in, and I tell you what, its worth the long line (we probably came at the busiest time of the morning, tbf). Definitely would go again, and definitely recommend!!
This was an amazing Sunday brunch for us after a night out in Armory Square. The pitchers of mimosas were amazing and the waffles hit the spot. We could have gotten the halves and had plenty to eat.
Such a great place for a cup of joe and a bite to eat. While I was there a Dead cover band was setting up and the vibe was chill. Very friendly staff. I got a brie, bacon and apricot waffle. It and my coffee were excellent! When ordering food at a bar/dinner type place I don't expect much from service. Thus the 4 stars is actually rather above and beyond. Very cool place and I will definitely be back.
