Bailiwick Market and Cafe
441 NY-5, Syracuse, NY
Crema's Take
“Bailiwick Market and Cafe is a beloved family-owned spot that feels more like a community gathering place than a typical cafe, complete with live music on weekends and an adjacent artisan gift shop that makes browsing part of the experience. Their self-serve ordering system keeps things casual and efficient, while an impressive array of gluten-free options (their quiche and breakfast sandwiches are standouts) and homemade sides like seasoned potatoes show real care in the kitchen. It's the kind of place where you'll happily bump elbows with other regulars—and might even catch some live music while you're there.”

Went here for my birthday lunch and was very pleased with how they run here. You sit yourself, grab a menu at the counter, and when you’re done you go up and place your order. They then give you a buzzer with your number that goes off when your food is ready to go up and grab. The atmosphere here wasn’t too loud and gave a cozy rustic farmhouse vibe, and seems to be very popular among the older generation. They had little decorations and baking stuff for sale around the cafe as well as some pet treats and other small essentials. The food here was very filling with good potion sizes, and their ice cream and milkshakes made a delicious end to my visit here. Will definitely be returning again in the future.
Friendly helpful staff. Lots of gluten free options. I have the gluten free quiche. Ive also had the gluten free breakfast sammy. The seasoned potatoes are delish. I enjoy meeting up with friends and having my hot beverage in those Big ceramic mugs. Cozy and casual. Ive only been for breakfast. It is an order and seat yourself.
A bit pricey and the kid's pizza is clearly just the Costco mini pizzas, but it's largely a lovely place. They have Jets stuff too, which is a nice added bonus.
Quite possibly my favorite place to go in the Syracuse, NY area. Balliwick Market is a family owned and operated restaurant, artisan gift shop, destination for receptions, “you pick” sunflowers (in alternating seasons), and host for special events. They even offer horse drawn carriage rides in the wintertime. The inside is always seasonally decorated and the meals are delicious. They also serve my favorite coffee brand, Cafe Kubal. We make a special trip every year to buy the maple syrup sugar and just enjoy the visit.
When I visited (on a Saturday) there was a lady with a beautiful voice singing live. The place is cute, although it felt crowded with tables which made kind of difficult to walk around with the tray once I picked up my food at the counter. There is also a nice area to sit outside. As for the burger, it was pricey and not worth it!
