Shrine Coffee
544 W Cliff Dr, Santa Cruz, CA
Crema's Take
“This beloved Santa Cruz institution pairs exceptional specialty drinks like their standout Spanish latte with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere that keeps locals and visitors returning—just know that its popularity means seating can be tight, especially during peak hours. Beyond the reliably excellent coffee and pastries, what sets Shrine apart is its heart: it's a non-profit run by the adjacent church, so every cup you order directly supports the community. The space radiates warmth and invitation, with friendly staff and a dog-friendly patio, making it the kind of place that feels like a natural gathering spot whether you're meeting friends, settling in with a laptop, or stopping by after a long journey.”

As everyone has said, they have great coffee and pastries and dog friendly. My only complaint is that outside, they have large tables and not very many, but they are often monopolized by singles or couples who camp out with a laptop for long periods of time. Adding some smaller tables would leave more options for seating. Always seem to be plenty of chairs available…
It’s a good place but I do wish that it was quieter. It get quiet noisy sometimes. It was also a bit hard to find seating, especially near the power sockets
The Spanish lattee is amazing. They also have a good selection of souvenirs. The coffee shop is a non-profit for the church, so all the proceeds go back into the church.
Very beautiful and inviting place. Atmosphere was amazing. People were very friendly and helpful. Coffee was amazing. We just arrived to Santa Cruz and it was a very good beginning of our trip
My first and best cafe I’ve been so far in Santa Cruz. It is located next to a church and it’s very convenient for those who want to straight here after church or a long trip going here. When I arrived, it was a long line and probably most people in line are from church next door. The ambiance isn’t only nice here but also the exterior. It’s a really nice place to hangout and chill especially that it’s next to the oceans (well not really close to it). They also have merch that you can purchase I think. I didn’t get a chance to eat something here since I want to have cravings elsewhere, but next time when I come back, I’ll try any foods here.
