River Cafe
River cafe, Santa Cruz, CA
Crema's Take
“River Cafe is a hidden gem in Santa Cruz that doubles as both a welcoming neighborhood hangout and a gateway to authentic Tibetan cuisine, with momos and thukpa that locals rave about alongside genuinely good coffee and matcha. The intimate space, complete with a beautiful glass ceiling perfect for lingering, strikes that rare balance of being equally suited for a quiet work session or a lively meetup with friends and family. What really sets it apart is the genuine warmth of the owner and staff, who clearly care about both their craft and making each visitor feel like they belong.”

Love this place! Great dumplings and noodles! They were super friendly and helpful and fun! Good matcha too, which is hard to find! Will definitely come back.
I really don't understand the " poor " reviews. I didn't share their experiences, were in town waiting to pick up a critter from our specialist vet and stopped in for lunch specifically because the patio is dog friendly. The patio is huge, shaded, and comfortable. The chairs and tables are fine for patio seating. Our food was awesome and the staff we spoke to knew exactly what was in it when we asked. I had chicken dumplings and my husband beef noodle soup. We always share and we were so happy with both of our meals. Next time we're in town we know where to stop in!
Amazing little café, great for people watching with a beautiful glass ceiling. The food was wonderful, healthy & delicious. Highly recommend the chicken momos. Owner & chef were kind & friendly, loved speaking to them about Tibet. Incredible experience, can't wait to come back !
Absolutely delicious food. I got the vegetarian soup and it had a clean yet flavorful broth, tofu with a deep blackened flavor, fresh veggies, and a robust chili sauce. Small menu but well executed. Friendly service and a casual vibe. We also got some local kombucha. Dog friendly- even brought out some chicken for our dogs!
