Crema's Take

Woodstar Cafe has earned its reputation as a beloved Northampton gathering spot, where genuinely excellent pastries—particularly their celebrated baguettes and flaky croissants—pair beautifully with quality coffee and creative sandwiches like their standout grilled cheese. The cozy, bustling atmosphere invites you to linger over morning coffee or return for lunch, though be ready for the popularity that comes with a place this good, and note that service can be inconsistent. It's the kind of neighborhood cafe where college students bring visiting family and regulars claim it as their favorite morning ritual.

My baguette-loving son has said, “This is the best baguette I’ve ever had. It’s not even close.” Woodstar food is delicious. Be prepared for lines and close quarters in the cafe, because it’s very popular (for good reason).

My granddaughter's favorite coffee shop. When we visited her at Smith College, this is where she took us for morning coffee and pastries. The staff was awesome and the coffee and pastries were delicious. It was a fun place to relax and visit with our granddaughter. We definitely plan to go back the next time we visit her!

The food here is genuinely good, but the staff are consistently rude and dismissive. I’ve called twice to confirm a pre-packaged product was available, then drove over to buy it, only to be told they had it but wouldn’t sell it unless it was in their pre-measured packaging. The interaction felt snarky and unnecessarily rigid. It’s disappointing, because the food is worth it, but the attitude from the staff on this occasion and others makes it likely I won’t go back.

I finally get the hype, and it's in the form of their grilled cheese sandwiches! Excellent mochas, thirst quenching ginger lemonades, and fresh 'n flakey croissants. It can get busy, but this is one of the few places in town where it's worth the wait.

My first choice for early AM coffee, croissant or scone, and relaxing with other Woodstar Cafe customers before the day starts up. If I am back in the area around lunch - a good choice for a great sandwich.
