Buddha Bowls and Rolls
715 P St, Sacramento, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside the Water Resources Building, this spot punches well above its weight with meticulously executed Vietnamese-inspired bowls and rolls that showcase chef Victor's real attention to detail—the chargrilled pork arrives with a perfect sear, and the spring rolls sing with pickled vegetables that brighten every bite. The team, particularly staff like Allie, creates a genuinely warm atmosphere that makes this an ideal spot for a quick solo grab or lingering with friends over a full breakfast, all while keeping things family-friendly and accessible to the whole community.”

Food is genuinely delicious—Victor absolutely has it dialed in. Every bite tasted GREAT. Pair that with outstanding customer service (huge thanks to Allie for being so warm and attentive), and the whole experience just clicks. It’s welcoming, consistent, and satisfying. This has officially become my go-to spot for lunch.
The food here is really nice! The chargrilled pork has a nice sear on it. The spring rolls are really unique. They have pickled radish and carrots in with the fresh vegetables to give it a well-rounded flavor, and they include a crispy wafer inside, giving it some body with the crunch. The noodle bowl was big enough to make two servings. I enjoyed the drinks, too, a good level of sweetness, and it looks like there's a happy hour for $6 drinks at 2pm, which is cool. I also really wanted to highlight the kind people and awesome service! I made a mistake with my order, but they went above and beyond to help me out even though it was totally my bad. My order came out fast, and I was served with smiles. A great experience all around!
Updating my review at Buddha Bowls' request. My normal morning snack didn't hit the spot and I had a very busy day so I needed to grab something quick. Since Buddha Bowls was close I thought I'd check it out. I ordered the Thai Chicken and Rice soup based on the image from their website. What I got was soup and technically there was rice in it, maybe a single spoonful. Not exactly something that will fill you up and it left me wishing I had asked them to ladle it from the bottom. Due to my busy day and their proximity, I figured I'd give Buddha Bowls another chance. I ordered a rice bowl but there was no rice in my bowl. It sent me into a brief ontological spiral: what IS rice? After some reflection, meditation, and googling, I realized rice is exactly what I thought it was. This place just sucks.
This is located inside the water resources building but anyone is welcome to order food. Ordering ahead of time was super easy and you can choose a pickup time. We ordered the brisket fried rice ($15.70) with 2 pork lumpia ($2.50), a noodle bowl with crispy tofu and Buddha sauce ($13.80) with 2 pork lumpia ($2.50). We also ordered a plain sugarcane juice ($6.80). The food was very fresh and we preferred the noodle bowl over the brisket fried rice. The sugarcane juice was nice and sweet! They conveniently offer drink carriers and the food comes in a to go bag. There is a ton of seating both inside and outside
I ordered one of the most popular items on the menu, which is Brisket Fried Rice. During lunch time, I didn't wait a long time, and the staff was very friendly. However I'm a bit disappointed in the food. The fried rice is so dry and the brisket is too salty for me that I can't taste any flavor of the brisket, except saltiness. I hope they will improve it in the future.
