R&B Tea - San Jose
929 Story Rd, San Jose, CA
Crema's Take
“R&B Tea is a sprawling multi-concept space in San Jose that combines three shops under one roof, offering plenty of room to settle in with a laptop or meet friends. Their green Thai tea is genuinely stellar—balanced with just the right sweetness and tea flavor—and the hibiscus tea is equally noteworthy, making this a solid destination if you're serious about specialty tea drinks rather than just boba. The newly decorated space, crispy fried chicken, and ability to order from multiple vendors in one visit give it a relaxed, convivial vibe, though the self-serve kiosk ordering system isn't everyone's cup of tea.”

Ok spot for boba needs. Ordered through self-serve kiosk which isn't preferred. Some seating inside.
I hate writing bad reviews 😭 but this experience honestly horrified me. I decided to give this place a try since it’s in the same plaza where I usually grab lunch. Big mistake… Right when I walked in, I noticed the dirty tables and the awful smell coming from the bathroom. I should’ve taken that as a sign. I ordered my food to go, and when I got home and fully opened the container, I was about to take a bite when I saw a piece of hair sticking out like literally fried into the popcorn chicken batter 🤮. Absolutely disgusting. It really made me question their hygiene practices, and there was no way I could eat the rest. If I didn’t have to rush to work, I would’ve gone back for a refund — hopefully they’d still honor that. I’m hoping this was just a bad accident day for them, but I truly hope they clean up their food prep and overall cleanliness for future customers. P.S.A.: If you order to go, check your food before you leave! 🥲
I think they have one of the best green thai tea around the area. Just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. I get it with half ice and half sweet. My wife likes the hibiscus tea they have here. Overall, there is plenty of space and seating. You order by a kiosk and then wait for your number or name to be called.
The place is beautifully decorated with brand new furniture. The fried chicken and mozzarella sticks are crispy and tasty. The drinks have a strong tea flavor and aren’t too sweet, so it’s better to order them with 100% sugar. Otherwise, they can taste a bit bitter. => It’s better for takeout because the shop shares a seating area with other businesses and there aren’t many tables available.
They were 3 big stores combined: R&B, Sweet Box and one other I didn’t remember the name. Hence, this shop was really big with spacious seatings. You can order items from any of the 3 stores from the same kiosk, take the ticket and go to the respective shops to get your orders. I ordered Jasmine milk tea from R&B and 2 other dishes from Sweet Box. While waiting, they have this claw machine game for the customers to spend their time and money.
