Decent, hearty, breakfast. Service was good but they did start to get busy which made things move a bit slower in the kitchen. Liver and onions was not my favorite, I love liver but it was very dry - would not order it again. Broccoli cheese casserole had an off taste, like it wasn't super fresh. Sausage gravy over the chicken fried chicken was very good and the hot chocolate was very good. The chocolate chip pancake was good, crispy edges and fluffy center, may not be good for someone that isnt keen on a crispy edge pancake but we liked it. We asked for a kids plate and we got a (dirty) stainless steel plate. Kudos for stainless steel but negative points because it looked like another kid had just used it without being washed properly. The portions are good but that only really matters if you like the food, right?
The service was awesome we only waited 5 minutes max. Our waitress was awesome and nice. The floor was a little sticky but fairly clean. Their was also cute little decals on the wall. They also up charge you on things with no consent which sucked but overall good. They also have gluten free stuff/bread that they again up charge for. But I recommend this place especially the biscuits and gravy.
Fried chicken eggs Benedict was incredible. Eggs were perfect. Fried chicken was great. Hollandaise was amazing. Excellent biscuits. Potatoes were ok, might try a different side next time. Great drip coffee, comes with little cream cups that are actually cream and not the canola oil garbage. I guess the blueberry pancakes were great. They disappeared before I could sneak a bite. Would absolutely come back.
This place is always packed so we stopped by one morning after church and man did hit the spot! We were seated promptly by the sweetest hostess! The chicken fried steak was absolutely delicious and the pancakes were humongous! The biscuits were just amazing! Definitely our new spot to go to!
I really wanted to like it. When I arrived at the 1431 Café, there was a 20 minute wait quoted. I get it, it’s Sunday. So I put my name on the waiting list of my wife and I waited to be called. After 30 minutes or so, they finally called us and we sat down. Our waiter, Morgan, was really nice and explained the menu to us. My wife ordered the crabcakes Benedict, and I ordered the chicken fried chicken Benedict. I realize good food takes a little while to cook, but we are waiting for almost 40 minutes for our food to come to the table. My wife really enjoyed her crabcakes Benedict, but my chicken fried chicken Benedict was just…okay. The hollandaise was a bit burnt and the biscuits underneath were harder than expected. Not a deal breaker, but not too-notch either. The other thing we noticed was the waitstaff seemed to be dressed entirely too casual. Like slippers and t-shirts casual. Maybe it’s the norm for 1431 but not what we’re used to. Overall it’s a nice cozy little restaurant. The food was mostly good and the atmosphere was like an old 1950’s crowded corner café. If you like this sort of thing, then this is the restaurant for you.
