Crema's Take

The Baked Bird is a beloved San Antonio spot where the real magic happens in the kitchen—their buttery grits and flavor-packed breakfast dishes draw devoted crowds willing to wait in those notorious weekend lines. The vibe is genuinely warm and colorful, with a hilarious menu and attentive staff that make you feel like a regular even on your first visit, and while their specialty coffee deserves respect, it's really the food that keeps people coming back and recommending this place to friends.

Truly a great hole in the wall. The breakfast was delicious all dishes were bursting with flavors. The buttery grits were my favorite and they have good coffee. Be prepared to wait in the long line plus getting a table feels like a challenge. There was only one cash register available to take orders. I loved & appreciate that they have feminine hygiene products & diapers available for those emergencies. I want to thank the waitresses/ers for their outstanding service & politeness considering how busy they were. Blessings to all.

Flavor: A Service: A Tea: B Solo dining: B This place is super popular on the weekends but worth it. The sign says that the line moves quickly but that’s a lie. If the line is to the door it’s about a 45 minute commitment just to order - and another 15 minutes to get your food. But the pancakes and the biscuit are top notch. The tea is weak but at least it is served until closing time. I look forward to trying more items next time!

Stopped in today for the first time with my son and Oh boy! It was so colorful as we were greeted by a friendly face. It wasn’t too busy as the day was just getting started. I was hopeful to get a delicious latte, but started drooling over the menu and decided to stay and eat haha. I ordered the Amy Swinehouse and as soon as I cut into it, the egg burst and started flowing all over my French toast like a waterfall. So ooey and gooey, yummy goodness. The potatoes were so crunchy, salty and delicious that my mouth was in heaven. My son got a burrito and his must’ve tasted sooo good, because I can hear him slurping haha as I was involved with my own breakfast. It is an order, then sit down kind of place, but they have a ton of room available. I was overhearing that it gets really busy on the weekends, so good luck! My coffee was delicious btw, I ordered the Token Irishman Latte and it blew me away haha. I’m not sure what it was supposed to taste like, because I can taste a hint of tobacco and blackberries plus the sweetness of the white chocolate and the creaminess or Irish cream. Maybe my tastebuds are off but either way it was an interesting experience as the flavors did come together. Thank you 🙏 Chef for the delicious meal and intriguing flavors of my coffee! I’m coming back and bringing friends.

Great experience at the Baked Bird. Outstanding service and super friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious and the menu item names are hilarious. Great vibe inside. The place was packed with a line to the door and it seemed like everyone there (staff and customers) were in a great mood. We got the Steven Seagull and the Dirty South. Huge portions and the food was cooked perfectly to order. Make sure you get an order of the pancakes. Yum! Definitely will be returning and recommending to friends and family. 5 Stars!!

We really enjoyed our lunch at The Baked Bird this last Saturday! It was our first time visiting and definitely won't be our last! We came around noon and after ordering at the counter, we found an open table. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. It only took about 15 minutes to receive our food, and in the meantime we had fun looking at all the cool paintings on the walls of breakfast foods, birds and aliens throughout the restaurant. Our food was AMAZING! Some of the best breakfast food we've ever had. I ordered the Secret Burrito with potatoes and the sauce just made it so delicious! The pancakes are huge and so thick and fluffy! My mom ordered the Baby Green and it was wonderful. The homemade Strawberry Pop-Tart was the perfect way to end lunch. I will say that they were out of a lot of pastries that were on the menu, so if you want a specific one, you may need to come earlier in the day. We can't wait to come back and try more!
