Café Saint-Germain

Crema's Take
“This charming Somerville spot brilliantly blurs the line between French bistro and specialty coffee destination, winning over guests with inventive drinks like their acclaimed St. Germaine Espresso Martini alongside creative small plates that actually deliver on the promise of a fun, unpretentious French experience. Big windows flood the space with light and openness, creating an inviting backdrop for both lingering coffee dates and celebratory dinners where the real magic happens in unexpected flavor combinations and genuinely attentive service.”

We came in Tuesday night for unlimited tapas for a birthday dinner. If you're looking for the perfect French small plates experience in a casual setting that still feels fun and special, look no further. This place is perfect for a special, but easy going and relaxed dinner for any occasion. Great cocktails and a great deal on all you can eat beautifully presented small plates. We'll be back.
Came for Valentine’s Day dinner and honestly had a great experience. The specials were so good, everything we had was a hit. We tried the two for $8 espresso martinis, what an amazing deal. So awesome to see Karina here, we used to go to Josephs all the time and she was always our favorite bartender. We love a true local. Love seeing her managing now, makes the whole place feel even better. I see this place becoming a staple, definitely coming back.
The Cote de Porc was, in a word, SPECTACULAR, and the St. Germaine Espresso Martini was the best I've ever had -it tasted just like an espresso. The service was top notch - friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. I'm very much looking forward to future visits.
We came for the French tapas and it was a fun experience! This is really a great deal and it was fun to try so many different dishes. We especially enjoyed the mussels, beef poutine, and the coq au vin. I wouldn't say the food was an absolute stand out but it was good and the experience itself was worth going.
What fun and good vibes for this place! With the big windows it feels a bit exposed after dark and it might be even more fun and cozy with some curtains We ordered from the prix fix menu and the portions were huge! From our 3 course meal we each very much liked 2/3 From the onion soup, pork and creme brûlée the last 2 were very delicious (and we were compensated for the soup as per their statement it wasn’t their best batch) For the pate, coq au vin and choc mouse the first 2 dishes were fabulous and huge The choc mouse texture was to granular for my liking (I like my mouse to be silky but realizing this is very personal) There wine pairing is served in cute little glasses and is good value for price Waiting staff is very kind and service oriented Also the crowd is a fun mixture of ages Overall a neighborhood gem
