Yipao Coffee

Crema's Take
“Yipao Coffee is a compact La Jolla gem where the espresso truly shines, with customers raving about their single-origin beans like El Guamal and creative signatures like the Panela Latte that strike an impressive balance between sweetness and coffee forward flavor. The tiny but mighty shop prioritizes quality over space, backed by genuinely warm staff who'll guide you toward stellar recommendations like their smooth, rich black coffee or a perfectly executed flat white. It's the kind of place where you grab exceptional coffee and maybe a guava and cheese pie, then head out—but you'll be thinking about that cup all day.”

The coffee is top notch! The espresso is delicious. Had a little trouble with getting the order placed correctly but got it worked out.
Tried this coffee shop and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the Panela Latte iced with oat milk, and it was perfectly balanced — sweet enough without overpowering the espresso. It was so good I finished it fast. I went back for a second drink and chose the Gesha Dark Blue pour-over. Smooth, clean, with chocolate and citrus notes that really stood out. The location is ideal — not too close to the beach, but far enough for a nice walk without the crowds. Parking was easy too, with plenty of neighborhood spots available. Great coffee, great vibes. I’ll definitely be back!
Amazing coffee, great worker, and good prices. Not a lot of room for sitting or lounging, but definitely go there for the coffee! She recommended a flat white and I loved it. They also have amazing pour overs
Yipao is the #1 and only place I love black coffee from, because it's so rich and smooth here every time. El Guamal- cocoa, cherry, floral, creamy body. The owner/staff are so friendly and wonderful too. Quaint outdoor porch to sit year-round. I won't go anyyywhere else!
My latte was just okay. I ordered a hot regular latte with honey as the sweetener and I’ve had better. It wasn’t very hot either. The guava and cheese pie was very good and we enjoyed it a lot! The atmosphere inside is good, but small. More seating is outside and the umbrellas provided wonderful shade. The bathroom was large but kinda dirty. Best part was the server! He was kind, friendly, patient and understanding. The wait time too was very reasonable and we were happy. I wouldn’t return though knowing there are a little richer coffees available elsewhere.
