Crema's Take

Quruxlow is a casual Somali restaurant where generous portions of expertly prepared goat and rice share the menu with traditional drinks and matcha tea, drawing a loyal community of diners who appreciate both the food and the cultural experience. While service can be inconsistent, the warmth of the staff and the authentic flavors—particularly their Somali tea and mixed meat dishes—create memorable meals worth the visit. Family-friendly and unpretentious, it's a neighborhood gem that rewards those seeking genuine food over hype.

Don't believe the hype. People give this place way too much credit, but the food is mediocre at best. The real issue, though, is the service. The guys working there act like they’ve never been in a professional setting. Making inappropriate jokes and 'hollering' at female customers isn’t 'hospitality'—it’s disrespectful and uncomfortable. I came for a meal, not to be harassed by staff who don't know how to act. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values their customers.

Ordered take out from here and the two men that helped me were kind and helpful. I got the beef Kay Kay and the goat with rice and Somali tea. It was all so delicious and the portions are huge! We will have food for days!

CLARIFICATION: I went to the Karmel Mall restaurant by this name in late summer, not sure if it's the same as the restaurant by the same name across from In the Heart of the Beast Theater, since several Somali restaurants have similar names to this one. I wasn't especially hungry, but servers at the order counter explained menu items patiently after finding someone who could speak English well. I ordered a simple soup with cabbage in a cup. It was a bold, spicy, filling cup of soup and the vegetables still had some texture to them. They had a handwashing station conveniently close to the table. A real standout was the warmth of the people. A random guy who sat at the same table was eating some a Somali beef entree over rice, and shared some with me (not pictured), and that was also very delicious. I was touched by the generosity. During my meal, people told me this was the first restaurant in the Karmel Mall. It seemed a very family-friendly place cuz I saw lots of families eating there together. I will certainly be back.
