Crema's Take

This South Pasadena gem shines brightest for its matcha tea and French pastries, particularly their legendary chocolate croissants that clearly linger in customers' memories. The bright, welcoming atmosphere and fair prices make it feel like a neighborhood living room where locals linger over coffee and fresh-baked macarons, though service can be slow and sandwich execution is inconsistent. If you're after exceptional matcha or indulgent pastries in a family-friendly setting, it's worth a visit—just manage expectations for hot food items.

I love their matcha tea more than any other place in Pasadena. The chocolate croissant was also amazing, I’ll never forget its taste.

Outstanding customer service, great product quality, and very fair prices. The atmosphere is delightful, with coffee, fresh bakery selections, and macarons, which is exactly what brought me in today. The café’s décor gives off a cozy, welcoming lounge feel, and the team running the front is fantastic. Miguel and his coworker kindly stayed open an extra ten minutes so I could make a quick stop, and their warmth and generosity really stood out. We even had a pleasant conversation, which made the visit feel personal rather than transactional. I’ll definitely be coming back to lounge here again, thank you team!

One bagel costs more than the bag they bought it for- an extra dollar for cream cheese. Not good service, takes forever. One wants to support local businesses but the quality and experience is so lacking. Why is everything so expensive and bad

Iced americano w oat milk was perfect! Unfortunately everything else was not. We waited 30 minutes for their bacon wrap, cup of black bean soup and a tuna melt. Had to ask waitperson for an update since we saw others getting their food. She was kind, apologized and said chef was new so he’s slow. Yet, those that ordered after us received their food (much more food than our order) quickly within 5 minutes after sitting down. :/ $10 Bacon wrap was a fluffy but overcooked egg omelette, and pieces of bacon. $15 Combo of sandwich and soup: Black bean soup pureed smooth but not flavorful. Tuna melt on sourdough, dry Space was clean, casual vibe, sat outside in patio for cool breeze. Indoor dining was quiet but stuffy and warm. Best thing was the iced americano, hence the 3 stars.

Staff friendly and nice. Location convenient and bakery clean and welcoming. Wish French bread was better. Had sandwich on Fr bread and found the crust to be hard & touch, difficult to bite into...not crispy crust with soft interior than I am use to. Bought a loaf of brioche and a couple of pastries to try Will update review once we have tasted them.
