Crema's Take

This San Jose gem punches well above its weight with an impressive Vietnamese coffee program and creative breakfast-lunch fare like their standout California Burrito that keeps regulars coming back for the whole week. The casual, welcoming vibe makes it equally suited for a quick caffeine fix or lingering over a meeting, with thoughtful touches like house-made sauces and fresh juices that reveal real care in the kitchen. It's the kind of neighborhood spot that feels like a well-kept secret—approachable and unpretentious, but with the kind of consistency that earns its stellar 4.7-star reputation.

Everything is amazing here! The food is amazing (breakfast and lunch), the Vietnamese coffee is so good! I also like their carrot and mango juice in the fridge

Today, I had lunch at this café for the first time and ordered the California Burrito. It was delicious! The dish came with two different sauces: red and green. Both sauces were on the spicy side, but I found the green one to be spicier to my taste. The burrito was fresh and soft, while the other side of the burrito has a nice crunch. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal today.

I'm in and out of San Jose so much that I sometimes forget to try places in my home city. Even though the barista/chef/dish washer (get to this later) said the place has been there for 10 years, everything still feels relatively new with the exception of one obvious building. I haven't had much of a reason to come through this neighborhood in quite a while, so it's new to me, but the sandwiches are supposed to be great. So let's get to it. The place has a surprising Asian decor on the inside. It's not a bad thing, but it's the first thing you notice when you walk in. The outside is generally colorless and ordinary, but when you walk in... Bang! Color... It's great! It's immediately obvious where to order and, you can tell the place has a certain flow to it. It's like an invisible loop to follow that eventually gets you to your seat. It's neat, but the service is the problem. These days, I imagine it's a pretty common place to only have one worker on the clock in the mornings , but when it's a bit busy, be prepared to wait. During my visit, I basically witnessed a solo Overcooked 2 round IRL, he was everywhere. Still, four stars. When it comes to the food, it's that give star though... Keeping in mind that I'm obsessed with breakfast sandwiches, Tower's Cafe was up against the wall. I own egg pattie makers just so I can make them exactly like McDonald's. So Imagine running across a cafe who's chasing the same goal. Their breakfast sandwich is like someone took the time to make a McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg(tm) with love. That's what the breakfast sandwich is here, and that's why I'm interested. When it was delivered, the big difference is they take that awkward hash brown you normally get with the meal and throw it on the sandwich. Turns out, Mc'd's is playing it wrong, because it's a step up. It's delicious! Considering what inflation has done to the price of fast food, you should be surprised to find out the price difference between the meals is 40¢ 😯. I don't have any ill will towards McDonald's at all, but for the same price I can get this? Call me when fast food is cheap again. Until then, you can find me ordering my breakfast sandwiches here.

I ordered turkey berry sandwich as I love specialty’s turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. With 4.6 rating for this cafe, I decided to try it, but so disappointed, the quality is not even close. The bread is not fresh made, cold and plain 🥪 … for $13, I will definitely go somewhere else.

Had a business trip around and this sandwich shop has been my breakfast for the whole week. I hadn’t took the picture of the California Burrito, but it’s just amazing. The perfectly scrambled egg and bacon with avocado wrapped in a thin layer of wrap, and dipping into their homemade spicy sauce, all the flavor and texture burst in the mouth. For my last day in San Jose I’d like to visit again and head out, sadly find that the shop isn’t open at weekends. Will definitely revisit if got the chance.
