SteamDot Coffee
10950 O'Malley Ctr, Anchorage, AK
Crema's Take
“SteamDot is an espresso lover's destination in Anchorage, earning a reputation for pulling some of Alaska's finest shots on a precision Slayer machine, with a particular talent for highlighting bright, nuanced single origins. The industrial-chic space doubles as a rotating gallery for local artists, creating an energizing metro vibe that draws regulars back for both the coffee craftsmanship and the creative atmosphere, though expect a lively crowd during peak hours. Beyond the cup, they're serious about their pour overs and signature creations, plus they stock bulk beans and brewing supplies for folks looking to bring that quality home.”

Been going here for a couple years, faster than the coffee carts and much better tasting in my opinion. I would recommend the single origin grind for it's uniqueness and flavor.
Great coffee and always friendly staff. Most of the time though it's tricky to find a table. Folks are packed in which makes it a bit loud most of the time. Really depends when you go, but they're packed about 60% of the time. Shows they're a great coffee shop with a great location! Just tight on space.
One of the best shops I've been to in a long time. Walked in and admired the art on the walls and the infographic on the wall that was hand painted referencing the different brew methods. Ordered a cortado and was asked if it was for here or to go, I replied for here, and was met with a "bless you." That speaks volumes to me. Tried their espresso of the day with the cortado, top notch. They serve it with the board and a club soda. My wife got a mocha which they use a house made sauce and he added in some cinnamon for her. Both drinks were great. I highly highly reccomend this spot. Prices were unbelievable too. We scored a cortado and a mocha for $9. Hope they are doing well and continue the mission!
Very nice coffee shop. Lots of variety, including craft coffee. They also sell bulk coffee and supplies. Adding to the ambience are paintings from local featured artists.
Espresso drinker? Steamdot has the best espresso in Alaska due to the proper use of the Slayer Espresso Machine. A Metro vibe and a focus on brighter coffees define the experience. Every sip, of espresso, showcases the vibrant aspects of their coffee. Pared with a seltzer to cleanse the palate gives a grand espresso experience. The cafes machine allows a long pre infusion phase of the extraction process allowing coffee to be ground finer thereby increasing extraction yields. Single Origin coffee is roasted to showcase the unique origin character of each coffee. A focus on quality is evident with most bags, depending on the sub species, containing small dense high altitude beans. I have yet to buy a bag that has roasting defects. Atmosphere is classy and tucked shirt. Large open ceilings with a large use of metal accents give the air of a downtown metropolitan cafe. The feeling is compounded by the regulars who are often professionals in meetings. While espresso and beans shine, milk drinks suffer from lower quality syrups offered compared to the competition. If Steamdot were to switch to only in-house production or a higher quality brand a fifth star would not be far behind.
