Trumpet & Drum Coffee House
3642 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA
Crema's Take
“Trumpet & Drum occupies a charming old house in New Orleans with genuinely distinctive spaces for both front and back outdoor seating, creating an inviting atmosphere that keeps customers coming back despite the premium pricing. The espresso-focused menu earns particular praise from coffee enthusiasts who rave about seasonal specialty drinks and carefully crafted beverages like their earl gray matcha, though you'll want to arrive outside peak Friday hours to snag a seat in this consistently busy spot. The pastries and full breakfast offerings round out an experience that locals appreciate for study sessions, meetings, or simply settling in for quality coffee and conversation.”

Don't be fooled by the five star rating. This is not a positive review. 5 stars only to protect the employees who are usually very friendly. This coffee shop reminds me of a rancid candied pecan. Beautiful and tantalizing from the outside but nasty and putrid on the inside. You'd think a shop with decent coffee, a beautiful interior, and great employees would hit the mark. But unfortunately their clientele truly creates a stiff and unwelcoming and environment. If you are not a straight white Tulane freshman transplant you will at some point feel unwelcome here. I'm not sure what the solution is but you'd think a business that employs so many queer people would be able to curate a safe space but then you'd be wrong. 0/10 would recommend please visit a different shop
Cute and tasty but expensive and I thought it was odd to offer sandwiches but they’re just pre made sitting in a cooler… $7+ for a small cup of coffee was also interesting. Two cold sandwiches and two small coffee was $40+ Baristas also weren’t all that friendly or welcoming.
Top notch atmosphere. Coffee shop in a beautiful old house. Unique seating and drink options. Outdoor seating in both the front and back. Usually pretty crowded inside. Great coffee and pastries. Staff is nice.
Great place to study, work, and grab a drink/food. Very very busy time during Friday around 2-3 pm. Seats were filled and lined were long. I got the earl gray matcha and it was good, good tea taste although it was overly milky with little matcha taste.
WOW. I think this is some of the best coffee I’ve had. I usually am very particular about making my own seasonal flavors but this tasted as good or better than mine! Nice atmosphere with plenty of space to study but it was loud and busy. The outdoor patio area was very nice. Unfortunately no customizations on their seasonal menu. Got the seasonal sweet potato cold brew with marshmallow cold foam and it was phenomenal. The seasonal matcha was also good!
