Amour Cafe
40051 LA-42, Prairieville, LA
Crema's Take
“Amour Cafe brings a distinctly feminine, Instagram-worthy aesthetic to Prairieville that feels perfect for leisurely meetups with friends, though coffee enthusiasts should know the espresso program has been inconsistent. The vibe is undeniably charming and study-friendly with creative specialty drinks and matcha options, but reliability issues with equipment and limited transparency about hours and the full menu (hidden on Instagram) have frustrated some visitors. If you're after a cozy spot to linger over a signature drink and pastries rather than serious espresso craftsmanship, this sweet little café delivers.”

Came 8:45 AM on a Saturday and doors are locked. No one inside…. I imagine this is due to their espresso machine never working the last few times I tried to go. There were using a Keurig coffee pod maker the little tiny one so I guess their lack of business knowledge finally caught up with them.
When I walked in, it was dead silent. No music, no nothing. Then, I had to go to the Instagram in order to see the full menu. The paper menu on the counter only lists basic stuff. When I asked for 2 muffins like there were on the Instagram, they were out (also with an empty display case) so I got 2 croissants instead. These ended up a little burnt on top. I also ordered a latte (this was good, if very sweet). This ended up being over $17. It then took me over half an hour (!!!) to get this latte and croissants when there were only 2 other people in front of me! I don’t want to bash the worker there too much because it was obvious they were new and all by themselves on a Saturday morning. I wanted to try this cafe instead of cc’s down the road, but goodness! It’s hard to support small business if it takes that long.
If I could leave a negative review, I would. I will preface this by saying I have been looking forward to coming here and supporting a small business. It looks so cute. BUT, The only thing the guy at the counter said was “I don’t know.” He did not know the menu. Did not know what a fruity pebble waffle was and tried to tell me that is a strawberry waffle? He did not know what drinks are available, and asked us to pull up the business Instagram and show him a picture. He also did not know the businesses Instagram so we could look it up. There’s a printed menu with a few basic items but it doesn’t have some of their main items that are advertised on social media meaning if I didn’t follow them on social media I wouldn’t know that they offered anything else. The pastry rack completely empty, asked the guy if there was anything being made and he said “I don’t know.” Wanted to order the biscoff latte- can’t order that. Out of stock of several different coffee options. It took several minutes to order because he didn’t know what we were ordering or they were out of everything. He had to get help to complete the order. We reviewed our order to make sure it was correct. Fruity pebble waffles, waffle sandwich, and the flight of coffee as advertised on Instagram with four different flavors (cinnamon roll, PSL, toasted marshmallows, and brown sugar) but OOPs they were also out of toasted marshmallow so they had to substitute it. Received the food. Fruity pebble waffles on social media are advertised being made with whip cream and an icing topping. They were cold and soggy and no whip cream or icing (see photo,) Coffee flight was butchered and they only gave us two flavors and it was neither hot or iced, just room temperature drinks which is gross. Did I mention we were the ONLY customers and this took 45 minutes to be made? Guy answered the phone a few times and told the calling customers “I don’t know” every call he took. This place had horrible service and horrible food. Don’t waste your money.
This place is so cute!! It’s a very girly coffee spot that I enjoyed spending some time in with my friends. However, if you’re a coffee connoisseur this place may not be for you. Their espresso machine is not in use and they made my iced latte using a concoction of cold brew, hot coffee, cream and milk. I mean it tasted fine and woke me up but definitely is not what I’m used to from other coffee shops. Their pastries looked good though. Overall, come for the vibes and the pastries!
This coffee was exactly what I needed! YUM! This café has such a happy place vibe for studying or catching up with friends. I cannot wait to come here for cocktails before dinner! I bet the espresso martinis are top notch. They also have a loyalty point system and online ordering for quick pickup🤩
