Compass Coffee

Crema's Take
“Compass Coffee is an espresso-focused spot where the magic happens in carefully crafted specialty drinks like their Cherry Blossom and Turmeric Honey lattes, made with real attention to flavor balance and technique. The experience hinges entirely on who's behind the counter—on good days, you'll find genuinely warm staff like manager Caden who treat each interaction like a real human connection, but service can be inconsistent when the team is stretched thin. It's a coffee-only destination with a slow, contemplative vibe perfect for lingering, though you're better off skipping the overpriced prepackaged snacks.”

This place is an absolute joke. They were short staffed, but instead of at least trying to keep it together, the employees decided to take their frustration out on the customers and the drinks. My order tasted like it was made by someone who genuinely did not care. I asked for a remake, and they slapped together a second disaster with even more attitude. At that point I realized the quality here wasn’t an accident, it’s just how they operate. Honestly, I should’ve demanded a refund because what I got wasn’t even close to acceptable. Save yourself the headache. DO NOT COME HERE. Go to McDonald’s if you want a coffee made by someone who actually tries, because this spot clearly doesn’t.
I stopped in since it was a recommended place on InKind. This is truly coffee only. All snacks are over priced prepackaged items. The pumpkin spice late was awfu even after it was remade. The workers were nice and seemed efficient. The place was too loud to read or focus. I wasted time and money.
Fantastic coffee both store made and the beans that was kindly ground for us to take back for the coffee machine in the apartments opposite. Both members of staff we came across both days were lovely. Especially the Arsenal fan! 👊🏻 New favourite coffee shop when in DC.
Caden, the manager at Compass Coffee on H Street/18th (and another location) is that kind random stranger I needed on a day/week where I was searching for a warm smile; just to connect with someone, if only briefly. Thanks for brewing me the dark roast, the friendly chat and making my difficult day brighter.
Cherry blossom latte and turmeric honey latte. Both were amazing. Well balanced flavors. Nice place to sit and take a break. I spilled my coffee, completely my fault, and they offered to make me another one. Ty so much. The one I spilled and the new one both had same flavor, consistent craft. I would recommend if your in the area and want coffee while visiting or on brake.
