If you haven’t been to The Old Goat yet, put it on your list immediately. From the food to the drinks, this place delivers on all fronts. The hanger steak was absolutely phenomenal, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We also started with the deviled eggs, which were a great way to kick things off. Simple but done really well. And can we talk about the Old Fashioned? It was exactly how it should be, no shortcuts, no gimmicks, just a well-crafted cocktail. You can tell the bar team takes pride in what they pour. What really seals the deal is that the prices are fair for the quality you’re getting. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you got great value without sacrificing anything. Grand Rapids has a lot of great spots, but The Old Goat stands out. Will definitely be back!

Great place all around. Very friendly and up eat waitress. She really knew the menu. Great atmosphere, 2 floors with different decors, and interesting cool stuff to look at. The food was delicious and the cocktails were super tasty. We booked a table 2 hours in advance, and it came available about 10 minutes early.

I finally got around to trying again. I still really like the atmosphere. This time I got their deviled eggs ($10) as an appetizer. I enjoyed them. Not doing anything special though, nothing popped as wow. I ordered the Smokeshow Burger ($21). This is a ½ lb. Char-grilled fatty burger, smoked gouda cheese, applewood and onion jam, dill pickles, haystack onions, and calabrian chili a on a grilled challah roll. The burger was very good. It was cooked to the correct desired doneness. Again it just wasn't anything special. I've had so many better burgers, but it is definitely better than average. I upgraded to fries and these were definitely the best thing of the night. Probably the best fries I've had in a restaurant in years. The service was excellent. Efficient and Jovial. Overall I'm upgrading to a 4 star review. Would I return? If someone else wanted to go, yes. Probably not if the choice is mine where to go. They are really busy and the people I was with really liked their meals, so maybe it's just my taste buds that don't love it

My wife and I both had the Algier Burger which came highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The burger was very tasty and the combination of flavors that comes standard with the burger was outstanding. I thought the fries were good as well. Service was prompt. The only negative that we give the restaurant is that it was too cold. We're not all that sensitive to cool environments but this was colder than we would have liked. The staff is busy so I don't think they realize the stationary clientele are freezing. That's why atmosphere rating got only four stars.

We were visiting Michigan from out of state and looking for a chill place to eat, We visited The Old Goat on a Monday at 5 or so pm, this place was jumping! The energy was a vibe, we ordered early enough for happy hour too! JT was our server and his service was impeccable! He was knowledgeable about the menu gave his recommendations AND crowd faves. Let’s be honest JT was a whole vibe just himself even if the food was bad (which it was amazing) I still would have returned because our service experience was probably the best we’ve ever had. Hubby had a few yeunglings and I had a Cider (first time, recommended by JT and it was delish) We got apps first - Deviled eggs but remixed like green bean casserole they were so good and Bizzy Grizzy (a biscuit/muffin top texture) with cheese and some sauce dip, there were salt flake sprinkles on top and this was so savory paired perfect with the dip sauce. My hubby got the Mac Daddy and ofcourse I had to taste test that, it was absolutely delicious. I got the pick 4 - lobster bisque soup, it was very rich and creamy, Uncle Cesar Salad, the Emily Reuben and some french fries. The pastrami was slice perfectly not too thick or too thin and the entire Reuben itself was delicious, my favorite was the pumpernickel bread it’s made with. For dessert we order a goat cheese cheesecake with crumbled nuts and that really hit the spot too. Everything was perfect all around. We will be back the next time we’re in town and will 100% be asking for JT!
