Crema's Take

This Bakersfield institution excels at the unhurried breakfast and lunch experience, where friendly staff genuinely seem to enjoy each other's company and treat regulars like family. Beyond reliably excellent coffee that keeps flowing, Zingo's wins hearts with hearty, Southern-leaning comfort food—think perfectly executed fried okra and grilled pork chops—served in a bright, welcoming space that feels equally suited for a solo morning at the counter or a group gathering in a cozy booth.

Had the pancake combo for breakfast this morning. Food was amazing! Coffee never ran out but what amazed me the most was the way the staff interacted with each other and the guests. At no time could I tell who management was because they all operated at equal pace and level. One guy held conversation with every other employee as if he was genuinely interested in everything about them. He asked questions, praised and smiled the whole time. The girl working was very outgoing and constantly asked if I needed anything. This place is a gem. Loved the atmosphere and the vibe.

Enjoyed the Zingo's sandwich, garden salad, and fried okra. Good food and great prices! Loved the Patriotic flag and photos honoring our military!

I recently made my first visit to Zingo’s and enjoyed fried okra, navy bean soup, a wonderful grilled pork chop and mashed red potatoes with brown gravy. The food was absolutely outstanding, and had that home cooked, feel to it. The navy bean soup was a family recipe and absolutely delicious! The fried okra never made it to the photos because that got gobbled up first. The pork chop was thick, brined, Frenched and cooked to perfection. Dalton was our server and provided excellent customer service. We were greeted the moment we walked in the front door and welcome to sit anywhere we wanted. It is thoroughly entertaining to sit at the counter and watch all the food come and go. I highly recommend Zingo’s For an enjoyable dining experience.

Wow. Can’t say enough about Zingos’ delicious food. Our group had the corner round booth - 5 adults and 1 toddler. Not one complaint: good food, friendly people, bright & clean atmosphere. Bonus points for the beautiful American Flag and veteran display on the wall. (Be sure to try the chocolate gravy - lightly sweet and soooo yummy on a biscuit.)

Nice, clean look. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We've been several times now since the new owners bought the place and the food has been cooked perfectly every time, no matter what we ordered. Today, we got the lunch specials. The French dip was stacked with fresh beef on a perfect roll and a flavorful au jus. The fish and chips were perfectly crisp, flaky, and tender. We've also had breakfast before. The meats were fresh and not dry like so many places, the eggs were fluffy. The French toast great and the biscuits with chocolate gravy were awesome (but more like a dessert). We are definitely going back more often.
