Crema's Take

Ameer's Kitchen is a late-night Mediterranean haven in Tuscaloosa where the owners' genuine warmth matches the quality of their food—regulars rave about exceptional shawarma, kebabs, and crispy falafel, and many return specifically because they're open when nowhere else is. Whether you're grabbing a protein-packed meal after a workout or settling in for a leisurely conversation over traditional Mediterranean dishes, the humble hospitality here makes you feel like a welcomed regular from your first visit.

I LOVE Ameer's!!! It's one of the very few restaurants that stays open late and the owners, staff, and food are all fabulous!!! I go there after late-night workouts to get the delicious protein fix that I can't find anywhere else! Highly recommend!!!

Our favorite Mediterranean spot. Always eat in and enjoy chatting with them. I've had the bowl and shawarma wrap. Love the falafel, and seasoned fries!

#1 Rule Ameer about running a restaurant is to be kind and humble. Maybe you did not receive the memo that the customer is always correct. Instead of having that type of attitude I got a one that was stand-offish. As if I was ridiculous for commenting about the on portion size you deliver to customers. Brother you charge close to $20 and didn’t have steak in stock so I got chicken. It had the same portion as chipotle for double the money. The chicken was mid, the veggies were fresh I’ll give you that but update the name to veggie shawarma. You should appreciate constructive criticism, after all why you got veneers right? You have a restaurant near a top football university, do better..our parents worked hard for us to be here. Being greedy is not the way. The only highlight was the cashier, who was a one-in-a-million bright spot in a 1-star 🌟 experience. By the way I do not use my power to get more portion, I mentioned I am a top reviewer because I wanted to give you an opportunity to impress me after I paid for extra chicken. Goofy

What a wonderful gem this place is! Since travelling to London, England, I have been unable to find a shop as good as this that offers fantastic Shawarma, Kebab, falafel and other Mediterranean goodies! The staff are over-the-top friendly - if you aren't sure what to try, their recommendations are solid gold. We were even given a tea while we waited as a simple customer service bonus. We decided to go for the Trio Loaded Fries and we were certainly not disappointed! A lot of food vs. price - something that is amiss with other places in this present economy. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour, stop by, and give Ameer's a try! 10/10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A Must-Try Spot in Tuscaloosa! Ameer’s Mediterranean Cafe is hands down one of the best hidden gems in Tuscaloosa! I tried the Kabob Wrap and the Chicken Shawarma — both were absolutely delicious. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned, and the wraps were packed with fresh ingredients and authentic Mediterranean flavor. If you’re a foodie or just love exploring bold, satisfying flavors, this place is a must. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the food tastes homemade in the best way. I highly recommend it and will definitely be going back to enjoy more soon!
