JOE & THE JUICE
1500 K St NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“This K Street location trades the hustle of a typical coffee shop for a bright, spacious retreat perfect for solo work or small group conversations, with plenty of open seating and a relaxed afternoon vibe. While opinions split on the coffee quality itself, the shop shines for its creative signature drinks like the Big Brain Energy smoothie and solid breakfast offerings including overnight oats, making it more of a well-rounded café than a coffee purist's destination. The early 7 PM closing time means you'll catch a quieter, more contemplative crowd if you arrive toward evening—ideal if you're looking to linger without the pressure of a packed house.”

Joe & The Juice, K Street: A Brand Past Its Prime Once a dependable stop for sleek smoothies and quick lunches, Joe & The Juice on K Street feels like a ghost of its former self. The space was nearly empty and oddly uninviting, despite friendly staff who seemed eager but under-supported. We ordered lattes that arrived as drip coffee with cream—an unambiguous error that set the tone. The smoothie tasted chemical rather than fresh, stripped of the vibrancy that once defined the brand. More troubling was the gluten-free chicken sandwich: served cold, with bread toasted in a shared space despite assurances of precautions. The result was cross-contamination and illness, an unforgivable lapse for anyone with dietary restrictions. Adding to the decline, the WiFi was unreliable, undermining its appeal as a casual work stop. Joe & The Juice built its name on consistency and quality; here, both felt absent. The brand’s expansion has dulled its edge, and this location reflects that erosion clearly. I wouldn’t return, and that’s a disappointing conclusion for a place that once felt essential. #DCFastCasual #BrandDecline #JuiceBar
Why all the negativity?? I tried the Big Brain Energy drink for the first time last week and have been hooked ever since! I wish people stopped to leave positive feedback as much as they did negative ones. I will definitely be back!! 😍😋
Came here in January coffee wasn’t that good, hesitated about getting juice instead, but I guess that’s for next time. Expensive too. Didn’t finish the whole cup. Service was good. They let me use the rr before I paid.
It's a pity they close at 7 PM, probably more of a breakfast spot. We arrived at 6:50, and there were almost no people. We had a great time discussing things, and even though the girls looked a bit tired, they were still smiling. The juices were delicious. Everything was great — two juices, a protein shake, and banana bread. Thank you!
Enjoyed a mocha and some overnight oats. Loved the bright vibe of the place. Lots of open seating for singles, pairs, or small groups. I had the entire shop to myself for a few minutes before a small crowd appeared. This place is right across the street from the Capital Hilton, our home for the next week. So glad to have another great coffee/breakfast option so close!
