Backyard Brew

First time here and I loved it. The shop is literally a house, so it feels really homey, like going to a friend’s place for coffee. You order on the left side and can go inside after. Seating is limited but that’s part of the charm. The coffee was amazing and the banana bread muffin was so good, you could actually taste chunks of banana. The staff were friendly, positive, and genuinely welcoming. I was also impressed that they were open during the snow storm, it honestly felt like a movie moment and a little dream of mine came true because of it. Oh and parking is in the back. I’d definitely recommend this place to coffee lovers. I went with a friend who’s from Nicaragua and grew up around great coffee, and she loved it too. I’ll definitely be back for a cappuccino.

Hands down the best coffee shop in all of CLT. Not only is the coffee incredible, but the food and the service are top notch too. TK is genuinely one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Please don't miss out on Backyard Brew!

What a great experience! Greeted with some miniature lucky duckies and a guy that knew his coffee. He was willing to make us anything we wanted and however we wanted it made. Very knowledgeable and helpful with making decisions. Also what a great vibe! Pick up a permanent marker and help decorate the shop. You can sit indoors or outdoors for a great experience. We would highly recommend this place.

I swung in a bit late before a meeting and the team at Backyard Brew couldn’t have been kinder. Ordered the pumpkin-spice chai (which was delicious) and they even gave me a cute little pink ducky to go with it - absolutely adorable. The space has three separate rooms of seating so it’s great for work-mode, though it was a bit loud (still café-vibes). The Dubai chocolate croissant (with pistachio paste!) was flaky and tasty (yes, a little messy to eat, but oh so worth it). And then the “Appley Ever After” matcha-apple milk drink? Really, really good. Friendly staff + fun drinks + great pastry = highly recommend this spot.

As someone who loves exploring coffee shops everywhere I go, Backyard Brew instantly stood out — and it’s officially my go-to spot next time I’m in Charlotte. Whether you’re after a smooth, well-balanced espresso, something with a serious caffeine kick, or a beautifully crafted matcha, this place nails it. Their matcha in particular deserves its own shoutout — it’s honestly the best I’ve ever had. I tried the Banana Bread Matcha Latte, and it was so good I could’ve easily had three more. The flavor was rich, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced with that earthy matcha note that true fans appreciate. Backyard Brew has the perfect mix of quality, creativity, and comfort. If you’re in the area — or even just passing through — make the stop. You won’t be disappointed.
