Crema's Take
“Tucked into New Castle's historic charm, this spot trades generic coffee shop vibes for an upscale-cozy atmosphere that feels like visiting a stylish friend's living room, complete with excellent playlists and a genuinely warm crew. Beyond the stellar traditional and specialty coffee, they're making waves with creative matcha tea blends and thoughtfully curated vegetarian food with vegan options that go way beyond the usual pastry case. Whether you're settling in with your laptop for a few hours or gathering friends in their intimate space with banquet options, the quick service and 4.9-star consistency suggest this is the kind of place that actually earns its devoted following.”

The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse is a lovely, somewhat hidden spot that is definitely worth a visit. I first stopped by on February 24th for an iced coffee; while it wasn’t quite to my personal taste ( I prefer mine a bit sweeter or more flavor added), the experience was pleasant enough that I wanted to return. I came back today to try more of the menu and had the lunch special. While it was well-prepared, it didn't quite hit the mark for me personally, but I’m already looking forward to trying the nachos next time! On a high note, the Blueberry Cobbler latte was absolutely fantastic—I loved it. I also took a 'Honey Bee' to go, which was quite nice. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the prices are very reasonable—often better than other local coffee shops. With its great atmosphere, proximity to the park, and location near the Wharf, it’s the perfect spot for a coffee or tea date. I’m looking forward to exploring the latte menu on my next visit! ( when you do visit watch your footing on the walking path. It sits in a historic area so the path is stone . i would love to see coffee items that was set back in the day when Old New castle was founded) But defiantly think I found my coffee place.
A must go spot. I came all the way from Southern Maryland to visit New Castle and this place. My food and tea came out very quick and was very tasty. If I ever come back to New Castle, I will for sure be coming back to here!
I come in to work every once in a while. The food is excellent, the ambiance is upscale cozy, and the tea blends are delicious. ..bonus, friendly people and great playlists.
My family and I visited today for the first time and everything was absolutely amazing! The building still has the same cozy atmosphere as it did when it was Traders Cove. The service was great and the food so incredibly good. I loved that you could order at the counter or scan the QR code at the table to order. It took me way too long to visit this spot but I will definitely be a repeat customer from here on out!
This is a very unique historical location that has a small banquet area, great coffeehouse vibe, and outdoor seating. Vegetarian but has vegan modifications were needed, very unique food selections. Beer and alcohol also creative drinks. Located in Old Newcastle Delaware, beautiful area for some sightseeing and casual walks. They also have a bed-and-breakfast if you want to stay locally.
