Crema's Take
“Cafeteria El Chocolate is a warm, family-run Cuban bakery where the owners grow their own avocados and pour genuine care into every colada and pastry that leaves the counter. The spotless dining room, with plenty of cozy spots to linger, feels like stepping into an authentic slice of Cuba right in downtown Cape Coral, complete with friendly staff who treat regulars and newcomers like family. Whether you're stopping by for a quick afternoon treat or settling in for a Cuban sandwich and homemade flan, this is the real deal—fresh, unpretentious, and deeply welcoming.”

We are new to the Cape Coral, Florida area and were searching for an authentic Cuban restaurant in Cape Coral, and we are so glad we found this place. This is hands down one of the best Cuban restaurants in Cape Coral. I ordered the steak with rice and beans, and it was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My wife had the Cuban sandwich, which was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Our kids ordered the pizza, and surprisingly it was some of the best pizza in Cape Coral as well. We also tried the natural fruit milkshakes, which were fresh, creamy, and tasted homemade. The customer service was excellent, and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. You can truly feel the family-owned, mom and pop restaurant atmosphere here. If you’re looking for authentic Cuban food, great service, and a welcoming local spot in South Cape Coral, this is the place to go. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Cuban food near me, family-friendly restaurants in Cape Coral, or a hidden local gem.
It was a wonderful experience. The food was fresh and authentic. My wife had a small Cuban pizza and I had a Cuban sandwich and some avocado the owner grows himself. The place was spotless as well. We we're visiting the from Cleveland and wanted some authentic Cuban food. We will definitely be going back.
I decided to stop in at the spur of a moment for an afternoon treat of colada and a pastry. I ended up trying the flan as well. This is a very kind family from Cuba.
The people who work there are very friendly they even gave my son some candy without me asking. The Cuban sandwich was excellent, and the guava pastry and coffee were just as good. I also bought a Cuban cigar, which was very authentic and full of flavor.
Great little Cuban bakery in downtown Cape Coral. Their vibe is welcoming, lots of places to sit inside and out. Food was great, we had pizza, shakes and pastries. Come to find out they are under new ownership, and are making lots of positive changes. They said they are trying to be open for breakfast sometime soon. #SUPPORTLOCAL
