If you’re visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards and want something truly unique, Hooker’s Grill is an absolute must! This family-owned, woman-led gem brings heart, heritage, and bold flavor to every plate. The Indian Taco is unforgettable — perfectly crisp fry bread piled high with seasoned beef, beans, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream. The fry bread itself is golden, fluffy on the inside, and crispy on the outside — the perfect foundation for all those rich, savory toppings. You can truly taste the tradition and care behind the recipe, reflecting the owner’s Choctaw heritage. And the Oklahoma-style fried-onion burgers? Incredible. The thin, juicy beef patties are smashed and cooked right into the onions, creating that classic caramelized flavor that’s savory, slightly sweet, and completely addictive. It’s comfort food done right. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the atmosphere fits perfectly with the historic Stockyards vibe. You can tell this place is built on passion, culture, and community. Hooker’s Grill isn’t just a meal — it’s an experience. We’ll definitely be back!
I searched for the best burger near the Stockyards and Hookers Grill came up on the list with the highest rating. So, I decided to try them out. The service was great, but the burger was a bit unseasoned and the fries were ok, thus the 4 star rating. I ordered my burger without the bun, so maybe that made the difference. I heard that they had a great bun. The restaurant had outdoor seating and there were a ton of flies. There are so many devices to help alleviate flies, so they may want to consider that as well.
Hookers Grill – Fort Worth Stockyards Walking up, I was impressed by the western theme and atmosphere—it definitely sets the mood. The food was inexpensive, but unfortunately, the quality matched the price. The highlight? The hand-cut fries. At $4.50, the portion was huge and honestly delicious. My friend ordered them, while I went with the tater tots. When my order came out, I was surprised to find exactly twelve tots in the basket. I even went up to the window to check if there had been a mistake, but the staff counted them out and confirmed that twelve was the correct portion. Meanwhile, my friend’s fries could’ve fed two people. Luckily, he shared some—those fries really were the best part of the meal. To their credit, the manager/owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was. My friend responded positively, and I mentioned the small portion compared to the fries. She acknowledged it but explained that I did receive the correct portion, and maybe my friend had just been given too much. Overall: fun atmosphere, friendly service, and standout fries—but portion sizes are inconsistent and the “cheap food” feel holds it back. 2.5 stars.
The lady who took my order was sweet as can be. I got the Indian taco, because I haven’t had one in literally 20 years. I went right at opening so I had the place to myself. Having said that, one other cute guest did join me. He was very polite ❤️ the taco was SO GOOD. Hit the spot, and the warm salsa/sauce they serve with it is super tasty! Patsy cline songs were playing most of the time I was there which I appreciate. Immaculate vibes.
AWESOME BURGERS VERY FRIENDLY STAFF My wife and I dropped by here for lunch a Saturday in June of 2025. The place has a great old-time vibe. It is clean and well kept. And it offers several seating areas. The menu on the wall offers nice choices. We chose a bacon-cheese-burger with fries and a fountain drink. The service staff were very polite and professional. The food was ready within 10 minutes. The burger was absolutely awesome. Very tasty and juicy. Mouthwatering. And the fries were well seasoned and very tasty. An absolute must-visit if you are in the Stockyards.
