Crema's Take
“Equal Minded Cafe is a welcoming KC gem where families and laptop workers alike settle in for thoughtfully crafted coffee and creative drinks like their standout Dirty Chai, all served by genuinely friendly baristas who take their time to get things right. The vibe here celebrates lingering—whether you're coloring with your kids, meeting a friend, or simply savoring a perfectly temp'd pour with beautiful latte art—making it feel less like a quick caffeine stop and more like a gathering place that actually cares about the experience.”

Do not sleep on Equal Minded Cafe! Wow, can’t believe I haven’t spent time in here before. Equal Minded Cafe is such an amazing place; my two girls had a blast playing games and coloring while my husband and I had a lovely breakfast. (The girls had muffins and my picky oldest girl devoured her blueberry muffin before we got our breakfast). She said “this muffin is INCREDIBLE!” You know what else was incredible? My perfectly sippable lavender latte made just right and delicious and filling breakfast quesadilla! My husband and I ordered the same, and it was so large that I think next time we will share, but he ate all of his. I’m looking forward to my leftovers. There should be a line out the door, but because it wasn’t busy, the owner, Don, took some time to talk with us and even demonstrated how to play the piano for our girls. What an asset to Manheim Park and Kansas City as a whole. Come enjoy this gem of a cafe!
Have been here a couple of times and am finally getting around to leaving a review. Most recent time here, I brought my wife and our daughters. We got each girl a muffin and my wife and I each got a breakfast quesadilla. The muffins looked great, and the guy at the counter even added in some whipped cream. The girls loved that! Our quesadillas were amazing! Great seasoning, the eggs in it are great, and they included green peppers, chips, and salsa on the side. The quesadillas are a bit greasy, but they are absolutely delicious. Service was great, no complaints there. We loved the atmosphere. They have an area where people can sit on a couch and there are toys for kids to play with. They also have a table of free books you can get (grabbed a couple of those). Overall, Equal Minded is a great coffee shop and we're lucky to have them in the community. Stop by for a visit soon!
I have been looking for a great Dirty Chai since I was in DC. I found it y'all! And the grilled blueberry muffin with bananas and whip cream. Equal Minded is the place to be. Barista was fast, welcoming and energetic. Great experience.
Had the good fortune this morning to walk into Equal Minded Cafe for coffee and breakfast. Wow! The coffee was spot on - flavorful, perfect temp with a beautiful foam on top. We both chose the Hot Honey Bacon Melt, and if you’ve never had hot honey on a breakfast sandwich, you need to head over there and try it. It was a perfect harmony of sweet, salty, savory with the lovely fluffiness of perfectly cooked eggs to balance it out. It was served with chips - and as my partner commented, “I wasn’t sure about the chips but it’s delicious!” And it was! Our experience there was heightened by the presence of the man who gave us suggestions for breakfast and made our coffee. Don’s friendly presence when you walk in is only the first part of a great experience at Equal Minded Cafe. It was clear as others came in that he makes everyone feel as welcomed as we were, including the children. PS: there is a game corner for the kids! This morning was great! We’ll definitely be back! Thanks so much, Don!
I'm new to the area but I decided to give this place a try and I'm so glad I did! This place is such a vibe, and although the service is on the slower side, I'm not mad because the smoothie and latte was great!! I was immediately welcomed as I walked in despite a few people waiting and only 1 person working. The gentleman working was super friendly and acknowledge the longer wait time. I love being able to support a local shop, you can just taste the difference especially knowing there's some extra love/heart put into what you order, which is something I don't feel when ordering from a chain place.
