Honchos - The House Of Churros
6421 Broadway St, San Antonio, TX
Crema's Take
“Honchos is a San Antonio institution that's completely transformed how people think about churros, serving impossibly fresh pastries with creative sauce pairings like almond cream, Nutella, and condensed milk that regulars swear rival even the legendary spots in Ensenada. Beyond the standout churros, they've got whimsical specialty drinks (including Harry Potter-themed Butterbeer options) that add a playful spirit to the order, all delivered in a genuinely warm, family-friendly atmosphere that keeps people coming back for dozens at a time. This is the kind of place where the service feels personal and the snacks actually melt in your mouth—exactly what San Antonio crowds have been raving about for good reason.”

10000/10. Service is genuine, caring, and a welcoming atmosphere. I did not grow up eating churros much but this place changed my take on them! I asked them to recommend their best, almond cream was the filling chosen and was it amazing! Subtle, not over powering and not sugary. Their cafe de olla too, 10/10! We will be back :)
Such good memories with Honchos and a comfort snack that just really melts in your mouth along with the Nutella and condensed milk sauces on the side. Used to order two dozen, but downsized two a six piece this time.
OOF. These are the BEST dang churros we've had since La Buffadora - Ensenada. We detoured our route through SA instead of Dallas because Charles Barkley had said SA had the best churros. Seemed like a good enough reason LOL. Google took us to the back parking lot with the van & trailer and it looked closed. I may or may not have yelled NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. We missed the signage on the main road, but rallied and tried the building/parking lot above where Google misguided us to. PRAISE BE the little darkened out door had an open sign. Inside was so cute and just the pace we were hoping for after a long stretch of driving. Thought the mini churros were going to be small.. wrong. Thankfully, we realized it before we finalized the order because 18 would have be ALOT :D. We split the 12 count with the 4 sauces (the Carmel, Coffee, and Dulce were bomb) and 2 Americanos. The hot coffee was a great balance for the decadent (but not suuper decadent) marriage of warm, crunchy outside, soft inside, dunked deliciousness. The staff was kind, thorough and attentive. There was a solo bathroom outside with plush TP which was a great last piece before jumping back in the car for the next extended leg. Wish we lived closer to this place & it was definitely a cross country trip highlight!
While visiting a friend they took us to this place due to supposedly being a popular spot in San Antonio for sweet churros. After going, I can confirm this. You have a variety of churro options, from plain to frozen. We tried and shared some of these options with each other and they were delicious. My favorite was the frozen churros dipped with your two choices of sweet fillings. Eating these filled churros after dipping them in the ice cream was mind-boggling great.
Great place has a little wait but made fresh got the Harry Potter Themed for each house also the butter beer 🍺 the only thing they need better and more seating outside one of the bench is breaking apart. Small parking lot but has parking in the back also
