Crema's Take

Tempo Café is a reliably excellent breakfast destination where the kitchen executes classic diner fare with real care—think perfectly prepared omelets and standout pancakes—while staff like Elia and Noelle seem genuinely invested in setting the right pace for your morning. The vibe strikes that rare balance between casual enough to pop in without a wait and intentional enough to linger with your coffee and people-watch, making it equally suited for solo contemplation or catching up with someone over fresh pastries and light fare.

Tempo Café is a great breakfast spot in the city. I’ve always been able to walk in without a wait, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is consistently good. My favorite is the Casablanca freshly squeezed juice with strawberry, cantaloupe, and orange juice. Highly recommend!

The service and food were exceptional from start to finish. Everything was prepared perfectly, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. A special shout-out to Elia—she is truly one of the main reasons I will be coming back. She made me feel genuinely welcomed and at home, and her attention to detail and warmth made the entire experience memorable.

Absolutely phenomenal food. First time being in this part of Chicago, saw this online and truly truly did not disappoint. Some of the best breakfast food I have had in a long time. Omelette has phenomenal flavor and texture, and the chocolate chip pancakes are the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. Very fluffy and melts in your mouth. Noelle was very welcoming, and had great service. Great food for a great price

What can I say, clearly the food was amazing! Noelle controlling the “Tempo” like he’s Mourinho holding an aggregate lead at the Camp Nou. What a taste. PANCAKES: They sat next to me for 20 minutes untouched, then I took a bite and felt the depths and softness of the clouds above. Fluffier than Kim K’s bunda. SKILLET: WOW! Dare I say, better than EB. Never thought I’d see the day. A little too much cheese, but other than that amazing. CORN BEEF HASH: Wasn’t mine but told it was good. WINDY WINDY WINDY

Solid diner fare, efficient service, great people watching, and generous portions. I think I was expecting an actual sandwich and not two open face egg/cheese slices but still good (solid hash browns). My dining companions enjoyed their breakfast skillet and chicken breast salad (raved about the French dressing that tasted just like Kraft Catalina).
