Crema's Take

Kaladi Brothers is an Anchorage institution that takes their espresso seriously, with baristas who genuinely understand how to showcase quality beans in everything from precise pour overs to smooth mochas. Located conveniently near New Sagaya City Market, it's the kind of place where you can grab an excellent coffee alongside a fresh pastry, though their execution can be inconsistent—a few customers have experienced order mix-ups and disappointing specialty drinks like their matcha. If you trust their core espresso work and keep your order straightforward, you'll find a reliable neighborhood spot with real coffee knowledge behind the counter.

The worst matcha I’ve ever had. I’ve had plenty of matcha drinks before, but this one was extremely disappointing. I specifically asked for sugar-free vanilla, and they gave me a regular one instead. Something I only noticed after leaving the store. As someone with diabetes, this is a serious issue. If I hadn’t noticed, it could have impacted me really badly. On top of that, the drink had a strange gritty texture. Even after stirring it thoroughly, the grains would not dissolve. It makes me think they don’t even know how to properly prepare matcha. Overall, a very disappointing and unsafe experience. A waste of money, plus I left a tip for something that is undrinkable.

It was great to visit a Kaladi Brothers Coffee location after being away for 20 years! An unsurprisingly good mocha.

Ordered a mocha between 5-5:30 (08/05/25 iced. Barista claimed i didn't say iced and was distracted by my phone. The person on my phone heard me say iced. When I asked if I could get it iced i was told no and only if I paid again, they didnt even bother making eye contact when addressing my questions. They threw the hot one out and kept my money. Don't go hear, there are non franchise coffee shops that show professionalism throughout anchorage. The grocery store itself on the other hand is good. Ive found their staff to be modest and respectful

They know what good coffee is so trust and let them show what a tasty bean can do.

If you're lucky enough to live near New Sagaya City Market then you'll never go hungry. You're a short walk away from a coffee with a pastry or doughnut. Maybe you rather have lunch from a salad bar or hot food combination. How about a whole rotisserie chicken or fresh salmon for dinner. You can find common to uncommon foods here. Fresh fruit and vegetables a plenty here with some organic options. Relax at a table and read the paper. You'll find this is a great place to read a newspaper or meet with a group of friends.
