Good Judys Espresso & Bagel Bar
2740 S Philo Rd, Urbana, IL
Crema's Take
“Good Judys strikes that perfect balance between a quick caffeine pit stop and a lingering third-place vibe, with a cozy, relaxed atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back for both their thoughtfully crafted cold brews and genuinely fresh bagels. The espresso-focused menu holds its own against more pretentious coffee shops, while the friendly staff and mix of indoor-outdoor seating make it feel like a genuine neighborhood gathering spot rather than just another coffee chain. Fair warning: this is quality over quantity pricing-wise, but most visitors find the fresh ingredients and genuine hospitality worth the investment.”

I visited today to pick up breakfast and coffee for my wife and me. Every time I have come to this delightful cafe, I am struck by the cozy atmosphere, the friendly staff and the great food. Even though it was busy when I went in (great to see that BTW) the staff took that couple extra seconds to greet me with a smile. The atmosphere remained relaxed and it seemed like both the staff and the customers were working together to make sure everyone was seen and respected. Good job with this fantastic business. After only three times in, you have me hooked as a repeat customer for a long time.
My partner and I have given this place a try twice, and neither time has been very great.. it's just extremely overpriced for what you get. Our two sandwiches and two coffees cost $35! I got a breakfast sandwich and it was so flavorless. Don't get me wrong, the bagel was good, but I don't think I would have even been able to pinpoint there was a sausage patty on it if I didn't order it myself. It was so sad and thin. The brown sugar cinnamon latte I got tasted borderline gross.. it had a strange chemical flavor to it, maybe the syrup they're using? My partner's latte tasted similarly chemical, although it had a different flavor. Tldr: I would come back for a simple bagel and schmear, but the sandwiches and coffees were overpriced for the quality.
Visited on August 20th. Good variety of bagels. Inside and outside seating. Atmosphere is cozy and relaxed but not huge. Food was excellent. When in Urbana, Illinois visit this bagel bar.
Nice little coffee and bagel shop tucked away on the outskirts of Urbana. Small interior with a decent amount of seating inside and out. Coffee and bagels were really good. I got an iced latte and a garlic sea salt bagel. Plus, they have a wall of unique art and some merch for sale. Blink and you'll miss the location, but it would be a great place to do some remote work.
Very easy 5 stars! Employee was so kind and efficient. Pricing is fair. Clean bathrooms. The veggie bagel was so good, and the ingredients were so fresh. Cold brew with English toffee flavoring was also awesome! Super cool spot, would return. 🥰
