Moonday Coffee

Crema's Take
“Tucked into Portland's charming landscape, Moonday roasts a philosophy of consistency and warmth alongside their Speckled Axe beans, delivering smooth, stable espresso that earns fierce loyalty from both casual walkers and serious coffee enthusiasts. The intimate space—limited but beloved—becomes a gathering spot where thoughtful owners genuinely engage curious guests about coffee while Mari's pastries complete an experience that feels less like a transaction and more like being welcomed into someone's home. Whether you're chasing their seasonal maple latte or diving into a carefully pulled Ethiopian pour over, you'll find yourself returning for the kind of coffee that doesn't need to shout to be memorable.”

Moonday is the perfect spot to grab a drink when you’re taking a casual walk around Portland. I’ve enjoyed the maple latte a few times. It may be seasonal, but I take guests here when they’re in town and they liked other things they’ve had. They usually have pastries early in the day as well. Good service and high quality ingredients. There is a little sitting area with small chairs outside, but this is a great starting point for shopping on Washington Ave or walking around the East End.
My favorite espresso I had while on vacation in Portland! Came here twice and it was very consistent. Small shop with limited space/seating but the owners are very sweet and the espresso is perfect. Bonus that they prioritize sustainability with all compostable packaging.
Great coffee shop serving speckled axe. The owner here was super friendly and indulged our questions about getting into coffee. Speckled Axe coffee beans are used. I had the Ethiopian pour over which was excellent and extremely clean and well prepared. My wife had the chai and it was so tasty and perfectly balanced with lots of spice. We had our drinks to go but it if you sit down there are nice handmade ceramic drink ware for your coffee/tea. Highly recommend this place! Wonderful experience and one of the coolest cafes I’ve been to on the East coast.
Because of the high ratings, I expected a coffee with a stronger aroma and brighter acidity. Instead, their coffee leans more toward a stable, smooth flavor. There were a few minor shortcomings, but overall, it’s still the best spot in Portland. The baristas are super friendly and really skilled.
Moonday embodies all the charm Portland has to offer. Thoughtful, kind, and full of flavor. The coffee is on point, the pastries from Mari make an already exceptional experience even better, and the service is stellar. My husband and I loved spending time out on the patio while enjoying coffee and blueberry pastries. Does not get any better than this. Go here.
