Crema's Take

PT's Coffee in Power & Light has earned genuine affection from its regulars with genuinely smooth, well-crafted single-origin coffees and a staff that treats each order like it matters. The space strikes that perfect balance between polished and welcoming—clean and well-organized enough for serious coffee appreciation, but warm enough that you'll actually want to linger over a breakfast burrito or set up your laptop for the afternoon. Whether you're a downtown worker searching for your coffee home or a visitor tired of mediocre hotel brews, you'll find the kind of cared-for atmosphere that makes specialty coffee feel like an experience, not just a caffeine transaction.

My wife and I stopped in here one morning for some coffee to start our day downtown. It is a clean shop with good signage and nice staff. I enjoyed my Americano and my wife liked her latte with the honey vanilla in it.

I work downtown and have been trying all the coffee shops near my building to see which one will become my go-to. The coffee was good (just a standard iced latte), but the service and atmosphere leave a bit to be desired. The barista was on his phone the entire time he was making my drink and taking my order, it felt like I was inconveniencing him with my business even though I was the only person in the cafe at the time. There's not a lot of seating options, especially for a group of more than 2 people. It's definitely a grab-it-and-go kind of place. I'll likely visit again since it is so close to my office, and the beverage was fine, but it's not my favorite overall. I'd rather go to the Made in KC cafe a block or so up.

I tried this “new to me” coffee shop and was really impressed. They offer a great selection of single-origin coffees, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the brewing—the cup was smooth, flavorful, and well-balanced. The pastries were just as memorable: fresh, flaky, and perfectly sweet without being heavy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to slow down and actually enjoy your coffee. Definitely worth a visit if you love quality coffee and delicious pastries. If you are in the area near the Power In Light district, you should walk over and give it a try. You will not disappointed and pleasantly surprised.

A fantastic little coffee spot! Really loved this place — the coffee is superb, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the whole vibe is warm and welcoming. I grabbed a breakfast burrito and it was absolutely spot-on. Perfect way to start the morning in Kansas City. Highly recommend!

In town from Indy and looking for better coffee than the 'typical' hotel coffee. This place delivered! After a warm welcome both times we went, Our orders were taken and curated with care and the staff seemed genuinely appreciative for the business. I got the mocha 2x made with light roast espresso, which you might want to get with a fair amount of sweetener added, while Joy had a Honey/lavender Coffee, which we both enjoyed.
