Crema's Take
“This beloved Bakersfield institution serves soul-warming Mexican comfort food that feels like it's been passed down through generations, with their machaca and chile verde drawing devoted regulars who've been coming back for decades. There's genuine warmth baked into the experience here—from the housemade sauces that rival family recipes to staff who remember customers across lifetimes, making it as much about community as it is about the food. It's a historical gathering place where old friends meet over plates of menudo and fresh flour tortillas, and where you're instantly transported to someone's abuela's kitchen.”

Quality food and quality service! Our go too for pozole and machaca!! Their sauce that goes on the machaca is unmatched! Tastes just like my grandmas cooking! 10/10
My husband and I had lunch at Arizona Café in Bakersfield, and it was absolutely delicious. From the moment the food came out, I felt like I was eating at my great-grandma’s house—true comfort food made with love. I had the chile colorado and instantly fell in love; the flavor was rich and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the chilaquiles and couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. Everything from the welcoming atmosphere to the incredible food was amazing. You can truly feel the heart behind this family-owned restaurant. We highly recommend Arizona Café and will definitely be back!
Beyond amazing been going since birth when Toby would walk around and greet us!!!! Love this place!
I always enjoy dropping into this historical landmark with my old compadre. Lots of history at this location. . Recently we both had the Chili Verde plate with fresh flour tortillas and rice and beans . The food is very authentic. However there is a little heat on the chili verde ,but it’s always extremely delicious . Our sever, Marian was attentive and provided excellent service . I highly recommend this landmark in Old Town Kern for a wonderful dining experience.
Came to try the chile verde huevos rancheros and the menudo. Food was delicious although the huevos ranchero threw me off as I was not used to having them like this with the chile verde. Place was packed and service was great.
