Crema's Take

Tucked inside a shared space in San Jose, The Orange Tabby is an eco-conscious café that's earned a devoted following for its inventive matcha-forward drinks—think yuzu matcha tonics and pink coconut matchas—crafted with alternative milks and a commitment to minimizing waste. The genuinely friendly staff and thoughtfully balanced flavors create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating that's perfect for lingering over a laptop or meeting a friend. It's the kind of underrated gem that feels like a well-kept secret, even though its 4.8-star reputation suggests plenty of people have already discovered why it deserves the hype.

Very underrated!! This is a cafe inside a store. They do have some weird hours but honestly its really worth it. I got the house matcha latte with oat milk (first time trying oat milk) and it turned out to be so smooth and nice. The sugar was also perfect and this is one of the best matchas I’ve ever had. Also one thing to keep in mind: they try to be eco friendly so they use reusable cups if you are dining in and charge for cups if you want to-go, or you can just bring your own!

Innovative beverage menu and ultra friendly staff. Eco-conscious. They work hard to minimize waste and encourage their customers to do the same I had the Yuzu matcha tonic and love it. It's not sweet, not bitter, and has a hint if the yuzu fragrance. Will try another beverage next time

Hidden gem! One of the best cafes in the Bay Area. Well balanced delicate drinks (I tried matcha strawberry and matcha yuzu), wonderful service, great surroundings. It's in a shared space with a vegetarian lunch counter and a vegetarian focused small grocery. Both a good place to gather w friends or to do some quiet reading.

Cute relaxing cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I got the yuzu matcha and it was very refreshing and delicious! Great drink for a hot day! Cafe is eco friendly and you can bring your own cup to reduce waste or purchase a glass cup. There’s also a cafe with vegan menu, a section with ready to go side dishes, and a little vegan market inside!

I tried the pink coconut Matcha, which is just Matcha and coconut water, it was nice and pretty refreshing. I was originally going to get a latte, but they only offer alternative milks, like oat, soy, and almond. They encourage you to bring your own cup, or you can buy a two dollar cup from them which you can get refunded if you return. We dined in so they brought us glass cups and glass straws. ** be careful though because the dine in/for here cups are extremely thin, I accidentally hit the straw and knocked one over on the table and it broke :(
