True Coffee Roasters

800 W Broadway, Monona, WI

Crema's Take

This espresso-focused roastery in Monona strikes a welcoming balance between serious coffee craft and casual comfort, with consistently praised baristas (like Abby) who take genuine care in helping you find your perfect drink. The warm, quiet atmosphere makes it equally suited for lingering over a pour over or settling in with your laptop, though it's worth noting that quality can be uneven—some days you'll get exquisite pastries and perfectly executed drinks, while other visits may disappoint. Despite the inconsistencies, regulars keep returning for that rare combination of skilled espresso work, friendly service, and a space that actually feels like a place to be rather than just pass through.

The experience I had at this cafe was superb. I was warmly greeted by the cashier Abby who was very nice and helped me decide what food drink to get. Speaking of the food and drink, they were exquisite. The orange spice tea is refreshing and delicious. The apple fritter was soft, sweet, and had the perfect amount of apple in it. Overall I would give my experience a 10/10 thanks to the delightful staff and tasty food.

I decided to try this place as a new customer yesterday. When I came in, it was a little busy on a saturday. But nothing super significant. The guy working behind the counter was pretty rude to me. He acted like I was more of a pain in the butt. Even though I hadn't said anything, I was just waiting my turn in line. He didn't greet me. He just said I'm behind so I'll get to you whenever I can. Well.... then he yelled at his coworker to come help me. And that's where I will say that the young lady who came to help me was really sweet and amazing. Completely unlike the gentleman I initially encountered. I don't know what that guy's problem was. For some reason he just really didn't want to help me. The food was okay, but it could definitely use heating up. I got a croissant and a smoothie. My smoothie was amazing and made with oat milk to my liking. But my croissant was dry and cold. Not tasty at all. I would say this place is okay at best. I wouldn't recommend getting a pastry, maybe the hot food is better.

I didn’t not enjoy it. The coffee drink was meh but the food was just terrible. It was unreal how it was so thrown together and cheap. There’s way better places in the area. This can be skipped

Very nice place, friendly staff, relaxing and quiet environment. The service is reasonably fast even on a Sunday morning. Portions are on the smaller side but the food is very tasty, vegetarian options are available and the coffee is good!

Coffee grounds in my iced latte that was bitter and sour. Breakfast burrito was cheap eggs in a jug that was probably made in a batch of 50 and put in a toaster oven when ordered. Everything was "okay" but I would not return a second time, nothing stood out. The cafe itself and the staff were pleasant, college students
